Well... the template call would be {{X|NAME}} which would contain the text for a link to a character page, with the name part of the link as a field that accepts NAME, and X can be anything you like, e.g. C, for the sake of brevity.  --[[User:Admin|James]]<b>\\</b>[[User talk:Admin|Talk]] 06:37, 5 April 2006 (PDT)

Have Bedo got any specific reason for wanting to do more to stir up the inn? --Samuel<Talk> 00:10, 2 April 2006 (PST)

Stirring up the inn?

No - it's just that with the party splitting into groups and heading away, he doesn't know where else thay can meet up again. The inn is the one place in the area that all know.

Would a template be a better option? One template would do for all the character sheets, another for all the information pages, another for all user pages, etc. Nice? --James\\Talk 06:13, 5 April 2006 (PDT)

Good point, however, so far I've not managed to do it satisfactorily with templates - all I can do is substitute them in, rather than use them for references. Is what you are suggesting to include templates, which themselves include the reference to the specific page? If so I'm sure it can be done - just I've not quite figured it out.

This at least makes to dead easy to put in links in future just by wrapping words in double square brackets.

I'm doing a global replace on a big page at the moment to link names to the redirect pages - found the easiest way is to cut the entire page content, paste it into Word as text, substitute in the square brackets, then paste it back into the Wiki.

Let's see how it looks once I'm done - which will probably be only a few more minutes. If it doesn't work, we can use the same method to swap it to templates.
