History

The medieval village lay on the east bank of the river, in a steep v-shaped valley, at the point where the river swings from follwoing the east side of the valley to the west. The name means "Eadda's or "Aedda's stone".

In 1211 Tommas de Eddastan was a witness when Leueline de Modlicote gave twelve acres of land in Medlicott to Haughmond Abbey.
