Hmm... apparently, I live in Turkey. :D That's a far cry from Japan. Still, my last attempt put me slap-bang in the middle of the Arctic Ocean.  Ho hum.  Apparently this is easy for UK and US people.  James.

I was trying to use the centering function to work out my coordinates.  For some reason it won't accept my coordinates, but I have verified them on a couple of sites.  You don't need to read kanji unless you live in Japan and want to add yourself... :D  Those of us who live in Japan will tell you what our place names are called.
+
:Fixed.  The problem was that the example I gave you all was wrong.

I can recentre the map to any location and scale, and also change the size, btw.

It is only Japan that is in Kanji - the rest of the world is in English.

If it says "We are sorry..." and shows an area of grey, then it is lying... zoom in and out to restore the areaIt's very groovy, but it doesn't work very reliably.

:Yes, it turns out that I had made a couple of small syntax errors somehowAs I had cut-and-pasted the original, I wasn't expecting myself to do something daft like that.

No, you need to visit a website with a free 'Geocoder'.  If you do a search for your city, you might find its coordinates listed, but if you want to be more accurate, you will have to visit a free site, and use their map to zoom in and obtain coordinates.

I'm sure the host will fix this at some point (or declare it broken!) :D

Isn't the Frappr Map a google map as well?  Or am I mistaken.  I shall shortly add the full-size version of the google map on a subpage of this one, and transfer your locations onto it.  The large map will have the full navigation buttons for easier browsing.

Discussion regarding the map showing player locations.

AT LAST... I managed to find the problem. Reversed coordinates and a missing semi-colon. There are two types of comment boxes for you to look at... the one in Japan uses a web address and a math-markup title, whilst the two UK addresses use a simple wiki link. I pointed Nick's location at his user page, just as an example of what can be done - though he may change that soon.

> the map shows Japan ans is in Kanji. I don't read Kanji. --Rencheple 04:17, 15 February 2006 (PST)

Google Maps has listed all Japanese locations in Kanji. My location is called "Ka-ma-gaya", in "Chiba-ken".

>How should I be doing it? --OldNick 07:00, 15 February 2006 (PST)

Fixed. The problem was that the example I gave you all was wrong.

>I did that, I found my lat & long, and thought I had added them to the code, based on other stuff there, but still my house doesn't seem to have a marker however close I zoom.

If you add it again, it should work now. Sorry! :D

>I know it's not the most important thing in the game ;-) but being a bit of atech head I still want to know what I should be doing to make it work ;-)

Yes, it turns out that I had made a couple of small syntax errors somehow. As I had cut-and-pasted the original, I wasn't expecting myself to do something daft like that.

Isn't the Frappr Map a google map as well? Or am I mistaken. I shall shortly add the full-size version of the google map on a subpage of this one, and transfer your locations onto it. The large map will have the full navigation buttons for easier browsing.
