Bio

The only child of a prominent and relatively wealthy family in Orly, Cille had a privileged upbringing and a happy family life until the storms of oppression and rebellion began to stir. Her parents were killed in a car accident nearly two years before the beginning of the story, at which point her adoptive brother Raef legally became her son - and the two discovered that their parents' wealth had become depleted over the years. Cille has a good reputation among the people of Orly, although there are some who resent her for her status and see her as an elitist. She has few really close friends, among them Eric Ominae and Luna Monegossde. Her conservative style extends from her wardrobe to her approach toward relationships, and she has had a relatively sparse love life - with one highly significant exception: She met and became engaged to Landon Blaken in a whirlwind romance that lasted until his abrupt departure a year ago, and while she has done her best to get over him she still longs to see him again and try to get some closure.

Cille has always been reluctant to get involved in the rebellion, but after Raef's kidnapping she sets about trying to find him and learn more about Landon's Blacken Syndicate. However, it is not until she is directly targeted by the Syndicate's enemies - and loses her home and her job in the process - that she resolves to devote herself to opposing Ozzal's tyrannical regime. Fortunately, she is taken under the wing of the protective Straight Cougar, a friend of Landon's and an ally of the Syndicate. Unfortunately, she is captured by Ryuho during the mass arrests of Syndicate members and sympathizers.

While imprisoned she is brutally murdered by Spice, who is under the control of Matrix's latest mind-control drug. Upon learning of her death, a grief-stricken Cougar uses his incredible speed to literally turn back the world, allowing him to come to her rescue and take her to safety. The experience brings the two of them closer together, although they both have reasons to be reluctant to admit that they could be falling in love: Cille is much more cautious after having been burned by impetuous romance before, and Cougar likely feels it would be bad form to fall for his friend's fiancee.

After spending some time in the company of some of Cougar's friends from his old HOLY unit, the two of them rejoin the Syndicate just in time for Landon's evilness to be revealed. Cille is stunned to learn that not only was Landon planning to betray the Syndicate, but he also directly orchestrated the attempt on her life. Even after the Syndicate faces off with the Cool Mexicanos and Landon is killed, she is overwhelmed by conflicting feelings about him and everything she's been through. She mostly tries to hide what she sees as her own weakness, but she does take comfort in Cougar's friendship.

After endless debates with herself about her growing feelings for Cougar and what she should do about them, she finally has the opportunity to open up to him, but can't quite bring herself to make the first move. Fortunately he is slightly braver than she is, and once it's clear that there's something there, she takes the initiative to kiss him after he doesn't quite work up the nerve to do it himself. The proverbial door being swung wide open, the two of them are finally able to tell each other everything that they've been holding in.

When the Syndicate engages Ozzal's army in battle, Cille takes on a leadership role coordinating their troops from the command center (after an imprudent trip to the battlefield leaves her with some emotional trauma when she kills a man). She is initially worried about being able to handle the stressful position, but thanks to her sharp wits and her research on Ozzal she does a pretty good job. The strain of the six-day battle takes a heavy toll on her, though, and she is mentally and emotionally exhausted even as she is determined to see her responsibilities through. She doesn't want anybody to think that she can't handle the job or isn't trying as hard as the others, so she develops a steely composure in public and only really opens up to Cougar. She does kind of resent his insistence that she take it easy and rest, although she knows deep down that he's only trying to take care of her.

When Hikki proposes withdrawing from the battle, Cille supports him and helps convince Mustang of the need to pull back. After watching the Syndicate forces getting cut down for six days, she believes that they cannot win the war and will only suffer more losses if the war continues. She and Mustang plan out the retreat, and she gives the orders from the bunker in collaboration with Eric's surveillance. She is momentarily distracted by worry for Cougar when he stays outside to protect his comrades, but after he makes it in she realizes she was foolish to doubt him. Initially planning to explain the retreat to the troops, she is relieved when Hikki does it instead. During Hikki's speech she finally breaks down and is comforted by Cougar.

Random Cille facts:

  • Her favorite color is light blue.
  • Her favorite flowers are tiger lilies, which remind her of her the summer home in the country that her family used to have.
  • She occasionally passes the time weaving chainmaille.
  • She currently carries her father's Mateba revolver.

Chapter Guide

Chapter 1: O Death

A newspaper article about the capture and death sentence of a member of the Blacken Syndicate leads Cille to worry about her former fiance, Landon Blaken, whom she has not seen for almost a year. She is further shaken up by the news (delivered by her friend Luna Monegossde) that her son Raef has been kidnapped.

Chapter 8: Brick House

Cille is seen sitting in Luna's cafe being kind of emo.

Chapter 12: Fantastic Voyage

Cille mulls over her backstory: her happy childhood and privileged upbringing, the addition of young Raef to her family after the death of his parents, getting her own apartment and job, the death of her own parents and her subsequent adoption of Raef as her own son, their discovery of the depletion of their parents' wealth, and finally her romance with Landon Blaken, which began idyllically but fell apart after he left her to start his revolution.

After Raef's kidnapping, Cille begins looking for intel on the Blacken Syndicate but comes up empty. After losing her apartment and job under suspicious circumstances, she strikes out on a bolder mission, and is taken in by Straight Cougar, an old friend of Landon's and ally of the Syndicate who has been keeping a protective eye on her for some time. While initially suspicious of the enigmatic Alter user, Cille comes to sort of mostly trust him (despite being largely unable to handle his driving). Cougar takes Cille to a Syndicate meeting, where she receives a mixed welcome into the organization.

Chapter 16: Dragon's Teeth

Cille is arrested by Echelon member Ryuho, despite Cougar's efforts to keep her out of harm's way.

Chapter 21: Reborn

Cille gets killxorzed by a drugged Spice while imprisoned in Comdot Estate. When her mutilated body is discovered, the Orly newspaper releases the story of her death, prompting shock and outrage from her friends and the community.

Chapter 24: Pulp Fiction

Cougar, full of grief and remorse over his inability to protect Cille's life, uses his tremendous speed to literally "shorten the world" and turn back time so that he can come to Cille's aid. The two of them manage to fight off Spice, after Cille overcomes her fears and deals her former associate a decisive blow. They escape with the help of some of Cougar's former HOLY comrades, and retreat to the secluded cabin they share out in the wilderness of Lower Actonia. The experience brings Cille and Cougar closer together, and Cille resolves to do everything she can to fight for the ideals he shares with the Syndicate.

Meanwhile, Landon and DangerCille, who have had a hand in orchestrating what would have been Cille's death, decide to forge the story of her murder and carry on with their plan to retake control of the Syndicate.

Chapter 27: Electric

Cille has learned of the news story of her death, and sadly realizes that none of her friends in Orly know the truth.

Chapter 32: Rise

Cille asks Cougar to train her so that she can be badass when they rejoin the Syndicate. He brings her her father's Mateba revolver, and she gets in some target practice and training in hand-to-hand combat. She also learns that Landon has been gone from the Syndicate for months, and hears the story of HOLY's founding and demise.

Chapter 33: Chaotic Waltz

Cougar brings Cille to the meeting called by Hikki to investigate Landon, and the Syndicate members are shocked to see her still alive. The shockage continues as Cille meets DangerCille and sees Landon again for the first time since he left her a year ago. Landon, being evil, reveals that he was the one who wanted Cille dead, and says that while he did once have feelings for Cille, he mostly considered her a plaything. He tries to shoot her, and after he kills DangerCille instead, he and Greed take on Cille and Cougar. After Landon's death and the Syndicate's escape, Cille tends to Cougar's injuries, and he comforts her as she tries to cope with the day's trauma.

Chapter 34: Whiteout

Cille attends the funeral of Landon Blaken and the other Syndicate members killed since the start of the conflict.

Chapter 35: Say What You Need to Say

Still fairly distraught over recent events, Cille tries to hide her battered emotions but finally opens up to Cougar when she realizes how worried he is about her. She is finally reunited with Raef, and they both decide to devote themselves to the Syndicate despite their uncertainties and trepidations. Cille joins in the Syndicate's work cleaning out their new headquarters, and at the end of the day she converses with some of the other women about fighting and their love lives (narrowly evading some pointed questions about Cougar). Afterward Cougar finds her wandering the halls of the bunker and surprises her with a new bedroom containing some of her old things from her apartment.

Chapter 37: A New Hope

Cille offers commentary on Hikki's idea to design uniforms for the Syndicate.

Chapter 39: This Is Real Life

Cille takes on a new leadership role as a coordinator for the Syndicate's ambush of a military convoy, and volunteers to run the camera for the Syndicate's upcoming broadcast exposing Ozzal's world-domination scheme.

Chapter 41: Turning Pages

At the Syndicate party, Cille talks with Raef and Starry and later approaches Samson and Clarice about getting more intel on the Syndicate and Ozzal. They are unusually hesitant about the idea, but Sadar offers to give her whatever information the Order of Glass has on Ozzal and her military. Cille spends the next morning and afternoon studying the files, and when she decides to take a break she is invited by Cougar to join him for a walk through the woods. They discuss their current situation, and Cille learns about Luna's activities in Comedia. And then they finally get to have their big scene where they share their first kiss and finally get around to talking about their feelings and stuff, and it's pretty great. <3

Chapter 42: Cosmia

When the Syndicate finally engages Ozzal's army in battle, Cille impulsively decides to join her comrades as a fighter. However, she is ill-prepared to face the psychological effects of killing, and is sent into a state of near-shock when she kills a man in self-defense. Her old friend Eric Ominae comes to her aid, having returned to Actonia at just the right time, and he sends her back to the Syndicate base.

Chapter 44: Aftermath

At the first day's battle assessment meeting, Cille apologizes to Hikki for acting recklessly and promises to devote herself to helping as much as she can as a coordinator.

Chapter 45: The Second Day

Cille fully takes on the role of battle coordinator for the Syndicate troops, assisted by Eric, Elian, and Aoi. She is nervous about the responsibility, but once her mission mode kicks in she's actually pretty sharp at it. Eric is impressed by how much she's grown. Later she has to explain Hikki's disappearance to Clarice and participates in the discussion about the mysterious stranger who turns out to be Tenma.

Chapter 46: Gravity

Spice mentions that she has apologized to Cille for trying to kill her.

Chapter 47: Roundabout

Cille is informed about the army's recon vehicle and along with Eric formulates a strategy to deal with them.

Chapter 48: Refuge

Cille has pushed herself to exhaustion but still feels a great responsibility being in charge of coordinating the Syndicate troops. She is tasked with getting Cid and Proof's new tentacle mech into the fray and guarding the vulnerable entrances to the base. When Hikki proposes withdrawing from the battle, she supports him because she has seen how the war is simply wearing down their troops. She oversees the retreat and falters only when it appears that Cougar will be stranded outside. Mustang challenges her to explain the retreat to the fighters, but fortunately Hikki takes that on himself. Cille finally allows her emotions to show once the war is over, and she is comforted by Cougar.

Theme Song Lyrics

Because they're nice, and like nobody's going to go listen to the song...

"Long Trip Alone" by Dierks Bentley

It's a long trip alone
Over sand and stones
That lie along the road
That we all must travel down

So maybe you could walk with me a while
And maybe I could rest beneath your smile
Everybody stumbles sometimes and needs a hand to hold
'Cause it's a long trip alone

It's a short piece of time
But just enough to find
A little peace of mind
Under the sun somewhere

So maybe you could walk with me a while
And maybe I could rest beneath your smile
You know we can't afford to let one moment pass us by
'Cause it's a short piece of time

And I don't know where I'd be without you here
'Cause I'm not really me without you there

So maybe you could walk with me a while
Maybe I could rest beneath your smile
Everybody stumbles sometimes and needs a hand to hold

So maybe you could walk with me a while
Maybe I could rest beneath your smile
Maybe I could feel you right beside me 'til I'm home
'Cause it's a long trip alone

DangerCille

DangerCille (by fool_on_the_hill)

Following Cille's murder, it is revealed that a future version of Cille (nicknamed DangerCille) has traveled back in time via a time machine invented by future Professor Matrix. In her time, the rebellion has been crushed by Ozzal's forces due to disorganization within the Syndicate after the deaths of Landon and several other Syndicate members - a tragic event which she herself was responsible for. In her timeline, Landon returned to the Syndicate shortly after she joined, and the two of them renewed their relationship. Despite being a "total n00b," she was determined to become his match within the organization, and began learning as much about the Syndicate as she could. After being captured by Ozzal's men on the eve of a major Syndicate offensive, she was tortured and told them everything they wanted to know. The next night the Echelon ambushed the Syndicate hideout and killed many of the rebels, including Landon, Hikki, Samson, Clarice, and Cougar. DangerCille returned to the Syndicate after being released by Ozzal, but without their iron-fisted leader the group was thrown into chaos. DangerCille eventually became a capable fighter and leader, although many of her comrades never forgave her for betraying them (however unwillingly).

So, in an effort to change the course of events and prevent this disastrous outcome, DangerCille has come back in time to stop her past self from making the same mistakes, even if it means she has to die. She convinces Landon to allow Cille to be killed by Ozzal (knowing that this would probably end her existence as well). For some unknown reason (possibly having to do with some quantum physics dimensional mumbo-jumbo), DangerCille has remained in the present time even after Cille's death.

In the new timeline in which Cougar rescues Cille, DangerCille and Landon decide to fabricate her death as a way to continue to move their plans forward and rally the Syndicate to their cause. DangerCille feeds this idea to their contacts in Comdot, who work it up the ladder until Ozzal's people decide to take these measures themselves.

Unbeknownst to DangerCille, Landon has been using her knowledge for his own nefarious purposes as the leader of the Cool Mexicanos, and he plans to bump her off when it suits him. When DangerCille learns of Landon's duplicity, she secretly informs Hikki and his crew so that they can take appropriate measures to safeguard the revolution. They subsequently call a meeting to confront Landon, at which he realizes that she was the one who gave away his nefarious plans and kills her. Fortunately, she believes, her actions have altered the course of events enough to create a new timeline and give the Syndicate a new chance to be successful.

DangerCille is much more badass than present!Cille, and in fact got that nickname during the war in her time. She has cut her hair shorter and favors a black outfit with a bodice and jacket.

DangerCille Appearances:

Chapter 22: From the Shadows

DangerCille's existence is revealed to Eric Ominae, who has come to Landon after seeing the news report of Cille's death.

Chapter 23: When It Hits the Fan

DangerCille is brought to the Syndicate, and after an initial reaction of shock and apprehension is accepted as the key to their ultimate victory.

Chapter 24: Pulp Fiction

DangerCille and Landon discuss the ramifications of Cille's disappearance from Comdot Estate, and decide that their next best course of action is to fabricate Cille's death and go ahead with their takeover of the Syndicate. DangerCille hypothesizes that it may still be possible for them to succeed even without Cille having to die, if they are able to sufficiently alter the course of events.

Chapter 31: Fixing a Hole

DangerCille overhears a meeting between Landon and some of his associates from the Cool Mexicanos and realizes that he's eeevil.

Chapter 32: Rise

DangerCille has decided to stay with Landon and pretend that nothing is amiss, but she covertly visits Hikki, Samson, and Clarice at the cafe to tell them what she has learned about Landon and his other group and to warn them to be careful. She also recounts the story of the downfall of the Syndicate in her time.

Chapter 33: Chaotic Waltz

DangerCille accompanies Landon to a meeting called by Hikki, at which the Syndicate members confront Landon about his loyalties and his association with Da Sombras. The two Cilles meet each other face to face for the first time. DangerCille prevents Landon from shooting Cille, and Landon realizes that she was the one who sold him out and kills her.
