Icon Theme Day takes place each Friday, during which time participants use an icon that fits into the week's theme. A consensus on each week's theme is reached in the days leading up to the event (usually involving cage matches and taking out hits on competing ideas), with some themes being chosen in advance to go along with holidays or other special events. The theme day begins at midnight on Thursday night (or whenever anyone feels like switching) and goes until the following midnight. The first official Icon Theme Day took place on February 9, 2007, and was preceded by AD Self-Loathing Avatar Switch Day and a random "let's wear Eureka seveN icons" day.
Previous icon themes include:
- Week 1 - Stephanie Sheh for a day
- Week 2 - Characters with silver/white/gray hair
- Week 3 - Animals
- Week 4 - Lolis (This was one of only (I believe) themes to be thought up only minutes before theme day began)
- Week 5 - Characters wearing hats or other headgear
- Week 6 - Villains/antagonists
- Week 7 - Faye for a day
- Week 8 - Lost rights
- Week 9 - Opposite gender
- Week 10 - March of the Shippos
- Week 11 - Homunculi
- Week 12 - Gekko State (commemorating the Eureka seveN finale)
- Week 13 - Old people
- Week 14 - Mothers (for Mother's Day)
- Week 15 - Blood Drive (icons from Blood+ and Trinity Blood; this was the first week with the new icon batch)
- Week 16 - Characters in uniform (for Memorial Day)
- Week 17 - Day of Rage
- Week 18 - Crispin Freeman characters
- Week 19 - Fathers (for Father's Day)
- Week 20 - Characters wearing glasses or other eyewear
- Week 21 - Couples and groups (in which participants match up with other people and use coordinating icons)
- Week 22 - Red, white, and blue (for the Fourth of July)
