AD Persona

BlindSight joined the boards quietly in December of 2007. Perhaps unknown to many, he has generally always been a professional lurker extraordinaire. He does not use any alternative names on the boards.

Posting Philosophy

BlindSight generally follows rigid standards with which he holds all of his posts:

1. He tries to follow the board rules as closely as possible, particularly in regards to spamming and spoilers.
2. He generally does not post if he does not have something thoughtful to say that has not yet been said.
3. He reads all posts on a topic before posting, with the exception of games such as " word association " (this follows from #2).

Personality

BlindSight is quite meticulous in both the real world and on the boards; his posts can be very detailed and very long. Some of the best examples of this come from the Eureka seveN Second Run Spoiler-Free Discussion thread. He has been voted for the character, L, from Death Note in both the AD Regular's as (as) anime characters and the AD Regular's as (as) anime characters: take 2!~ threads by other board members.

This meticulous nature also manifests itself within his style of writing, in his grammar. His motivation for this, however, is very different than you may think. His goal, within what may appear to be a boring and overbearing form of writing, is to dramatically reduce any miscommunication and, thus, avoid unnecessary conflicts. He sees this style as more of a necessity on the boards due to the inability to convey tone through voice and body language. Recently, his style has gradually incorporated more emoticons, in an effort to alleviate part of the robotic-like tedium that he fears resonates from his posts.

His tendency to lurk also extends from his introverted nature. He is generally pretty quiet, content to have a few select friends with whom to share his life and devote himself. He prefers more worthwhile 1-1 conversations in which his introverted nature is often shed to the point where others may wonder if he is the same person from the boards.

Real Life

BlindSight graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.S. degree in Atmospheric Science in 2005 and Florida State University with a M.S. degree in Meteorology in 2008. He is currently employed as a weather forecaster for a private company in Grand Forks, ND that works with primarily different departments of transportation for multiple states. The forecasting side of the company operates 24/7, requiring him to work rotating shifts, resulting in a fairly random schedule. Thus, the time that he can visit the boards is generally dictated by that schedule and the time that he chooses to sleep.

He really is a person whom is often driven by his feelings, much more emotional than board posts might convey, but he has never been that good at showing it, even in real life. As stated above, he only keeps a few friends, but he can usually talk their 'heads off' once he gets to know them well.
