CANON SYNOPSIS: Millia, born of Russian decent, lost her parents at an early age. Shortly after, she was adopted by a local branch of the Assassin Guild. She practiced one of the Hi-Deigokusuipou (the Six Forbidden Arts). Using the Sixth, Angra, she gained the ability to control her hair, making it prehensile, able to change size and shape at her will.
Within the Guild, she met a rising assassin, Zato. He too had undergone one of the Forbidden Arts. The two had an affair for an uncertain amount of time. As Zato rose in power in the Guild, Millia could see that he was being blinded by power, though the true cause unseen by her eyes. As time went, Millia lost her desire to kill, having taken the lives of too many innocents for little cause. What was left of her suppressed conscience gnawed away at her she finally gave into herself, and opened her eyes to Zato's increasing greed and madness. Betraying him, she sealed him in a separate dimension and fled the Guild.
As she fled, other assassins pursued, she came to learn that Zato had freed himself from his banishment, and had risen to the head of the Guild. It became clear that it would be much easier to end the organization than run. Using the United Nation's first Gear-hunting tournament, she worked her way through the ranks to Zato, defeated him, and left him for dead.
Finally free, she still felt the guilt of having to face her former leader and lover. It was only a short year later that assassination attempts had resumed. Thinking the Guild disbanded, she heard from one of her pursuers that Zato was still in power, and still alive. In the most convenient of twists, the UN sponsored yet another Gear-hunting tournament, seeking out another Commander-class gear that could lead to another uprising of Gears against human-kind. Uncaring of it's true goal, Millia once more used the tournament to hunt Zato. However, his lapdog Venom stood in her way more than she would have expected. Putting the man aside with her skill, she confronted Zato once more, only to see that he was in fact a corpse. His 5th Forbidden Magic had taken over his body, using it as a vessel and calling itself "Eddie". Guilt filled her once more as she once again felt to have felled Zato, as well as Eddie. On this second defeat, she buried his body and shadow, and left him and her past behind, finally starting her life free.

ONORATA-VERSE BACKGROUND: Millia was abandoned as a child, left to fend for herself in the snows of Russia. Returning from a job, an assassin of no name or consequence found the girl by herself. Having a soft spot for the weak and innocent (i.e. children), the assassin took her to his headquarters with him, intending that hopefully, she could be used to fill out the ranks of assassins that had been lost in recent years. This man came from a guild of assassins that dabbled in what was construed to be forgotten and forbidden sorcery and witchcraft. They practiced strange rituals that granted many of it's agents bizarre powers that bent the laws and oftentimes logic of reality. Among these practiced arts, the assassin guild had dubbed 6 of them as forbidden; their power great, but the short and long term effects on the person's body too violent and unpredictable to be properly effective on the field.

On her own, Millia was trained in their obscure magics and abilities, as well as simpler forms of martial art and self defense. As is the training with all their assassins, they are expected to shine in one way or another, and develop their skill and form of assassination from there. After several years, Millia showed no particular excellence in either physical nor magical ability. Yet, she was still able to complete her tasks as assigned. She'd become excellent in in-field judgments, never making a wrong decision in her time to strike, when to move, when to withdraw. But this wasn't enough for her superiors, and she was pushed to train harder in one or the other; strategy not seen as something to be excelled in. All assassins were expected to do their job right and proper, without fault or error.

However she was not the only member of the guild who was view with the same discerning eyes. This man, "that guy" as he went by, also failed to excel in one field or the other. Being in the same situation, the man took a liking to Millia, and often they worked together. Their relationship grew on a personal level the more time they spent together. Their superiors cared little for their personal relationship, but saw that still their ability was little more than mediocre, and were on their way into banishment (which was a nicer way of saying execution). Well aware of their predicament, "that guy" had begun searching into techniques lesser known and practiced. It wasn't long until he'd found the Six Forbidden magics in the darker recesses of the Guild catalogs. With little concern for the later effects for using the Forbidden magics the couple underwent the fifth and sixth rituals. Millia gained the ability to manipulate her hair to her will, and "that guy" the power to do much of the same using his shadow. However "that guy"'s ritual came with a price. In order to evoke the rites, he had to give up his sight for his ability, a consequence unwritten.

Afterward, the two quickly rose in rank in power, their superiors turning a blind eye to the obvious usage of forbidden arts. Watching them would give further information about the consequence of using such magics. The two quickly adapted to their new abilities, but only Millia appeared to escape any serious side effects. "that guy" however, as his rank rose, he grew to further develop his ability, aiming for higher and higher ranks, until he took seat as head of the guild. Millia had no desire for the power, but kept at "that guy"'s side, simply wanting to stay by her lover. As time went, their superiors became their subordinates, at which "that guy" had them banished for their previous desire to banish the couple. It was then Millia noticed something wrong about "that guy". She would find him conversing with his shadow, or vise versa, talking to it about needing to kill people on the inside in order to rise to the top. However, "that guy" was not unaware of her spying... or rather, Eddie was not unaware. She'd missed the point in which the shadow was given a name, but it was well aware of her watching them, and would speak to "that guy" about her planned treachery, though there was none yet to be warned of. "that guy" kept several of his subordinates on survelience of Millia as she watched him in secrecy.

Together, the two played as though nothing were Out of the Ordinary, trying to maintain a happy Existence. As "that guy" rose in power, Millia kept at his side, though slowly losing love and concern for the man as he seemed to lose sanity. Her conscience gnawed at her as she was sent off on missions to kill honest political figures, innocent men only accused of crimes, and pathetic small-time criminals. She lost interest in her life as an assassin the more she kept at "that guy"'s side, and the more time she spent with him, the more she wanted out. Millia waited until the moment arose that he would take his place as head of the Guild before making her move. From there, she would take his place as head, and disband the guild, leaving her and her conscience free.

But Eddie had put "that guy" several steps ahead of her. Aware of her intent to end "that guy"'s life, Eddie suggested "that guy" have her banished. "that guy" argued this, still having enough sanity left in himself to care for the one woman who remained at his side after so long. "that guy" had orders forged for Millia to be dispatched to an Italian city, Reggio Calabriaa, and await her orders there. No orders would ever come, but Millia was to be left unaware of this fact. A messenger delivered the documents the next evening, and Millia protested leaving, not wanting to leave "that guy" out of her sight. But her superiors (and yes, she still had them), forced the orders upon her, forcing her to leave improperly prepared for her indefinite stay in Reggio Calabriaa. Shortly after her dismissal, "that guy" was seated as head of the guild, and had assassins dispatched to watch Millia. Action was not to be taken against her unless she tried to leave, or made any obvious active investigation of the Guild and his rise as leader.
