Preface

Shadows of Chaos is a social guild that enjoys instances, PvP encounters and generally being helpful. The guild's short term focus is on having fun and leveling, with long term ambitions on being the top guild of the server.

Guild ranks

There are a total of 10 ranks in the guild. They are listed below from highest ranked to lowest ranked.

Overlord

The leader of the guild. This member is responsible for the overall strategic goals of the guild. The guild functions as a realization of the vision of the Overlord.

Dark Warlord

These are the senior officers of the guild. The Dark Warlords advise the Overlord when needed and are responsible for the long term objectives of the guild. They are also responsible for planning guild events, patrolling the guild channel, answering questions and providing assistance to the members of the guild.

Death Knight

These are the junior officers of the guild. The Death Knights are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the guild. They also assist the Dark Warlords with organizing guild events. They are specifically charged with patrolling the guild channel and settling differences.

Chaos Rider

These are the officer recruits of the guild. They are responsible for filling in as needed and available in the patrolling of the guild channel.

Shadow Reaper

These are the class and profession mentors of the guild. They are tasked with answering class and profession specific questions and, if needed, are to provide in-game assistance to members.

Wraith

These are the senior members of the guild who are active, have assisted members, answered questions, donated items to guild members and guild bank and have generally been friendly.

Shadow

These are the members who are active and have helped other guild members by being informative and helpful.

Minion

These are members of the guild who are active.

Acolyte

These are the newest recruits of the guild.

Noobing

These members are trouble makers that are on probation due to violations of the guild rules.

Recruiting

There are no level or age requirements in order to be accepted into the guild. It is open to all members of the Horde faction.

However, members are expected to be mature.

Participation

Members of Shadows of Chaos are expected to be active, not only in the game, but in guild affairs as well. Members are expected to visit the website and contribute on the forums from time to time. They are also expected to provide in-game support to less experienced guildmates.

Guild leadership understands that real life may not afford the member the luxury of being active, however it is requested that those who will be inactive for more than a month inform guild leadership by posting in the appropriate forum or adding text state such on thier public note in-game.

Failure to post a notice may result in expulsion from the guild roster after 30 days of inactivity.

Guild Bank

Donations to the guild bank is not mandatory but is requested. Items will be made available to the guild members based on previous donations and activity. It is preferred that any donations be made in in-game currency, however any item is acceptable. Some items that have been in the guild bank for a long time may be disenchanted or sold via vendor or auction house.

Guild Channel Etiquette

The guild channel is the most common method of communication for the guild. It is used to announce items wanted and available between guild members, requests for assistance, celebratory exclamations (DINGs) and general conversations.

There are certain items that should be avoided in guild chat. These include,

racist comments sexual harassment advocating acts of violence drug references belittlement of guild members 1337 5p34k panhandling (begging for in-game currency)

Spamming the guild chat with repetitive questions is also frowned upon. If a question is asked and there is no response then the response should be considered as either "I don't know" or "no" depending on how the questions is formed.

Guild leadership is always looking for more officers but asking to be promoted is, by far, the least effective way of gaining a promotion.

Within every social systems disagreements can and will occur. The guild channel is no exception. When a disagreement does occur the participants of the disagreement are expected to move their conversation to whispers. If an agruement can not be resolved, request assistance from one of the officers.

Partys and Raids

While doing instances it is requested that guild members announce the instance being attended and allow fellow guild members the option of joining the party. If no guild member is interested then it is acceptable to look for a group by other means.

Use common etiquette while in groups

Allow each guild member to complete their quests before leaving the group. DO NOT NINJA LOOT. Only roll need if the item is absolutely needed. Do not loot until everyone is finished fighting. Do not intentially cause a wipe unless it is agreed that the tactic is needed. Do not leech xp or loot (ie do not sit out on a battle for no reason). All chests encountered are rolled on.

PvP raids require the following

Before the Event

Raids should be announced at least 2 days prior to the event. Sign-up for the raid on guild website. Eventually DKPs or Raid Points will be assigned for raid events. All participants should send a tell to the organizer requesting an invite unless requested otherwise. All participants should be at the staging area 15 minutes prior to event start ready with consumables and repaired inventory. Any participants who are unable to reach the staging area without assistance should request assistance 30 minutes prior to start. Summoning participants may requires scarce resources and a request for a summon may be unfulfillable. While the raid is forming the raid leader should be a warlock so that summons can be easily conducted. Please refrain from spamming emotes as the organizer must sort through the tells requesting invites and summons.

During the Raid

Raid Leader should be rotated between those who desire the position.

Promotions to assistant is handled at the discretion of the raid leader. Raid leader will usually be the organizer who may promote another to lead.

Raid Leader is responsible for the overall stategic goals of the raid. Assistants are responsible for carrying out the tactical objectives of the raid. All raid members are expected to follow the orders of the raid leader and assistants. The raid channel should be reserved for raid specific communiques.

After the raid

Please do not leave participants stranded at the raiding location. Hearth out and repair if needed but return and assist with the retreat if requested.
