Here is the current version of the Wolf Project wiki. It's easy to add new pages and information--just look for "edit" buttons at the top of the page. To learn how to edit things in more detail, click "help" on the left sidebar or go to Help:Editing. Don't worry, it's very easy even for the non-tech savvy. Just be sure to write down what you change in the "Summary box" or put something on the "Discussion" page saying what you have changed. As of this version of this page, this project has not been agreed to by the Wolf Project membership, and all material should be considered impermanent until it is consented to. Kye has taken the liberty of copying the wolf image at the upper left and a few tiny bits of text from the script for mockup purposes only--he or others can remove them if desired.

Right now, the wiki is set up to allow anyone to edit or view it. If we decide we want more privacy, we can require users to register and have a username and password (which are useful anyway to sign your changes).

The username for the administrative account (should anyone want to change settings) is admin, the password is the first line of the "Wheel of Life" chant (O Yan Do...), all lowercase.

But What About Our Rights?

The Terms of Use (also found at the bottom of this page) state that the company hosting this wiki, editthis.info, doesn't acquire any rights over submitted content (they only have the right to display it as long as it is up here). However, because it is on the internet, it can be copied by any web surfer who finds it. Thus, any information we want kept to members only is better off on the email list, unless we decide to modify the wiki to require usernames to view content.

Is it free?

There are no costs, but we can only upload 25 MB of content unless we start making links to other sites (which might not be a bad idea anyway, although 25 MB should be enough for the near future). The company makes its money through the Google ads you see at the bottom of some pages.

Things to do

  • Create pages!!

Ideas for pages

  • Past issues of Wolf Call
  • Important dates
  • Fees
  • Clan pages
  • History of specific wolf years (if this is deemed not too much information)
    • Could include members who came on different years, notable events, focus on encounters from year to year, etc...

Pages Needing Work

Other optional things to do

(these are left over from the wiki creation software, can be removed once finished)

  • Control the rights of anonymous and logged in users through the Control Panel (which can be found in the toolbox on the left side of this page).
  • Add the url for your wiki to the Categorized wiki list. Simply edit that page and put your wiki under the appropriate category.
  • To increase the amount of space you have for uploads, add links to http://editthis.info from external sites, and go to the Link Quota Page to increase your uploads quota.
  • Edit MediaWiki:Sidebar to change the navigation menu
  • Add this wiki to some external wiki indexes:
  1. Wikipedia list of wikis
  2. WikiIndex
  • If you are feeling adventurous and know a little about web design you can edit the javascript and css to the Header to change the look of your wiki.
    • You must log as admin to do this
    • Whatever you enter in this page will be added to the html in the header after the standard style sheet, so you can override styles.
  • Read the User's Guide for other usage and configuration help.
  • Add your wiki to the map of wikis
  • Add a message to the Feedback Page if you see anything that could be improved.
