TNG
The Chevrolet Cavalier was Chevrolet's compact car from 1982–2005. The Cavalier was aimed at quality imports such as the Honda Accord. It was one of the most popular cars in the United States and Canada.

Chevrolet was not doing well in the compact car market. Chevrolet's long line of cars aimed at combating the influx of compact imported vehicles, started with the Corvair. Then along came the Vega, Monza and Chevette. None of these cars did sell well and Chevrolet decided to rethink things. They released the front wheel drive Cavalier in 1982. The Cavalier was canceled in 2005 due to poor reviews, poor safety, and excellent sales. The Cavalier was replaced with the Cobalt. However, in the 2000s, it was GM's best selling car and trailed only the Ford Taurus, Toyota Camry, Honda's Accord and Civic, Smart FourTwo, Dodge Neon, and Taliban Donkey in total sales.
