Orientation Night

From Wikimacs

Orientation Night is held on Sunday night when campers first arrive at camp. After dinner, either Frostburg or WMACS staff first lead the campers on a tour of the campus, highlighting the buildings that they will frequent. Then, the campers gather in the Black Box (inside of the Performing Arts Center), where the counselors and staff inform all new campers and remind returning campers of rules and regulations (through the Counselor Skit), give a brief introduction to the week ahead, and (most popularly) arrange the campers into the teams that they will be competing in for the various activities held during the week.

The teams consist of around 12-13 kids from all groups. They do several icebreakers and come up with a team name and cheer, which are performed in front of all teams. In years past, team names usually have something to do with various random Chinese phrases or Chinese foods. In 2005, all team names were Chinese foods.
