EditThis.info:Requests for adminship

From EditThis.info

Requests for adminship (or RfA) is the process by which administrators (also called admins or sysops) for EditThis.info are nominated and discussed by the wiki community. A user who wishes to nominate himself or another user submits the nomination here.

For past, successful nominations, see EditThis.info:Successful adminship nominations.

There is no established process by which nominees might be selected or evaluated. However, the following guidelines might prove helpful.

A nominee should have an established user account. Nominees should ideally have a history of contributions to this site that demonstrate their involvement, style, ability and trustworthiness. When adding a nominee to this page, please include a link to that nominee's user page and/or contributions page for the convenience of the community.

Before nominating someone other than yourself, contact that user and be sure he wishes to be nominated. If he agrees, nominate the user here, and ask him to add his consent to the nomination. Users who do not consent to their nominations will not be approved.

It is perfectly acceptable to nominate yourself for adminship.

Each nomination should go into the section Current nominees below, with a heading surrounded by triple equal signs (=== Example ===).

Users in this wiki community who wish to comment on a request for adminship should add their comments to the nomination's section. As comments are offered, they should go into subsections with the headers Support, Oppose and Neutral.

After a time, a bureaucrat (only RobKohr as of April, 2007) may view the comments from the community and, together with his own assessment of the nominee's qualifications, will decide whether the nominee should be granted adminship.

Once a decision has been made, the nomination may be described as either successful or unsuccessful. Unsuccessful RfAs are not necessarily permanently so. The unsuccessful nominee may be nominated again, preferably after the conditions that resulted in the unsuccessful RfA have been addressed.

There is no established time limit for an RfA. An RfA is concluded once a bureaucrat has made a decision.

I have created a few templates mostly to do with spam and have helped in controlling main page spam, especially with the blocking of 80.58.205.XX spambot

  1. Neutral. Brendan has a record of helpful edits to this wiki, but it is very short. —Stormraven (talk · contribs) 09:37, 2 May 2007 (EDT)

I think i could help a bit. I usually erase spam and monitor useless pages which should be deleted.

  1. Support. Canderous's history shows a lengthy record of helpful edits to this wiki. —Stormraven (talk · contribs) 09:13, 4 May 2007 (EDT)
Further detail: Canderous has been patrolling for spam and nonsense pages and filing them into Category:Pages for deletion. I've been essentially following his lead, confirming that the pages should be deleted (which has always been the case) and getting rid of them. I would trust Canderous with the power and responsibility to delete those pages himself. :) —Stormraven (talk · contribs) 10:16, 10 May 2007 (EDT)

It may prove disasterous to introduce WP-style politics to this wiki. RfA has served Wikipedians poorly and has caused much controversy. Let's see if there isn't another way to do this. Bear 21:36, 23 September 2007 (EDT)
