Kala Akaka

Chinese-Hawaiian University of Hawaii Grad. Kala has lived her whole life on the northern shores of Oahu. Growing up the youngest of three children Kala always seemed to have the desire to stand out. She enjoyed studies but, she enjoyed szhopping even more. This continued until after high school. Taking stock of her life she decided that it was not enough. She commited herself back to the books. Earning her BS she continued on. Finally reaching a Masters in Computer Engineering, she knew she was ready.

You know how many make a plan for life, then life kicks you in a new direction. Well here she goes. All set to take the IT world by storm life happens.

Little darling Kalani is born. Of course this changes many things. Well life rolls along and school comes. The nightmare begins. The education system seems a empty shell. The people are there but they lack the tools. Funding, that's all she hears. Meanwhile over and over on the news she hears how this secret military project is funded here or there. What about America children? Her answers are met with silence or false assurances.

Well she decided that she will fight to make a change. Her choice was made to take a stand locally or even in DC. She made her platform on education. Serving first on the city council. Then state house. Then here she is now.
