The committee is pleased to announce that after eight months of writing reports, giving presentations and supervising inspections, the LTA as awarded Thames Ditton LTC the prestigous Clubmark award. This award recognises the advances our club has made towards safe and efficient working practices, equal opportunities, child protection standards, club action planning, business planning and the provision of a premier framework and facilities for coaching.
The benefits of this award are not just the recognition of the contributions from the committee and other members in taking the club forward. We also obtain free publicity on the national Clubmark website, permission to use the Clubmark logo on our literature, and help with staff development. The award also places us in an advantageous position, should we wish to apply for funding. We have been presented with a Clubmark plaque which will be displayed in the clubhouse.

The dank days of winter are over. It’s time for tennis. And there is no better venue to find everything you ever wanted from a tennis club. Thames Ditton Lawn Tennis Club in Weston Green Road is the ideal answer.
Spilling out of Thames Ditton railway station it is difficult to miss this local gem. Even the Victorian traveller had that pleasure. Thames Ditton Lawn Tennis Club is the oldest tennis club in the world on its original site. Since 1882 this sporting venue has provided, at its picturesque location, manicured lawns for this exciting pastime.
Proud of this tradition the club meticulously maintains the six pristine grass courts, and, with the burgeoning appetite for this fine sport, now offers four complementary all-weather courts that are shortly to be floodlit.
This is a members club and having recently secured the freehold it is concentrating on a period of growth and improvement. It is a thriving forward-moving club that provides more than just tennis. There is a welcoming bar and indoor facility for table tennis and snooker, plus serious provision of tennis at all levels and abilities.
The club fields friendly and competitive teams during both summer and winter seasons. Teams are fielded in the Surrey LTA league and junior league matches are regularly played. An annual tournament culminates in finals in July and September and provides a great deal of affable rivalry and banter.
Whether accomplished player or enthusiastic novice, antique veteran or athletic youngster, a welcome awaits you at this friendly rendezvous. New members receive a complimentary course of lessons and advice that is gauged to suit all levels.
Rusty or in need of instruction? An amiable coaching team led by head coach Marc Codling is there to ease you into this rewarding sport. Group and private lessons can be booked. With a practice wall and short-tennis court, and fully-equipped clubhouse, the club is able to offer a unique opportunity and facilities for local families and young professional singles and couples.
Keeping healthy is a priority for most people and this famous club is an obvious magnet for fitness enthusiasts, offering low-impact exercise and an environment that is ideal for youngsters hoping to progress in the rather fickle world of competition tennis.
There are many membership categories to explore. A telephone call to the membership secretary should clarify this, and enable you to find a category that suits your situation and lifestyle. Take the opportunity to taste the product. A special open weekend takes place on 25th and 26th April 2009.
