Clone construct

From Stormravengaming

(Redirected from Clone Construct)

A clone construct is an artificially constructed clone of a creature.

"Clone construct" is an acquired template that can be added to any living, non-plant creature, referred to hereafter as the base creature.

Size and Type: The creature's type changes to construct. It has all of the features and many of the traits of the construct type as noted hereafter. Size is unchanged.

Hit Dice: Racial Hit Dice become d10s, but class Hit Dice are unaffected. As a creature of the construct type, a clone construct gains bonus hit points according to its size. See the table on p307 of the Monster Manual.

Armor Class: The creature gains a +2 natural armor bonus to AC, or if it already has a natural armor bonus, it increases by +2.

Attack: A clone construct retains all attacks of the base creature. A clone construct attacking with an unarmed strike is considered armed, even if attacking unarmed, so it does not provoke attacks of opportunity by doing so. A clone construct's unarmed strike is treated both as a manufactured weapon and a natural weapon for the purpose of spells and effects that enhance and improve either manufactured weapons or natural weapons.

Damage: Same as base creature, but a clone construct's unarmed strike usually deals lethal damage. The clone construct can choose to deal nonlethal damage instead with no penalty on its attack roll. It has the same choice to deal lethal or nonlethal damage while grappling.

Special Qualities: A clone construct has all of the special qualities of the base creature plus the following traits of the construct type:

  • Low-light vision
  • Darkvision out to 60 feet
  • Immunity to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns, and morale effects)
  • Immunity to poison, sleep effects, paralysis, stunning, disease, death effects, and necromancy effects
  • Immunity to any effect that requires a Fortitude save (unless the effect also works on objects or is harmless)
  • A clone construct heals damage naturally on its own and can be healed or repaired in any of the ways applicable to a construct or its former creature type.
  • A clone construct is not subject to critical hits, nonlethal damage, ability damage, ability drain, fatigue, exhaustion, or energy drain.
  • A clone construct is not at risk of death from massive damage.
  • A clone construct does not need to eat, sleep or breathe, though it can feign these activities if it wishes. A clone construct can still benefit from the effects of consumable spells and magic items such as heroes' feast and potions.

Unlike other constructs, a clone construct is not destroyed when reduced to 0 hit points. It suffers the disabled (0 hp), dying (-1 to -9 hp) and dead (-10 hp) conditions as living creatures do.

Since it was once alive, a clone construct can be raised or resurrected.

Abilities: Unlike other constructs, a clone construct retains its Constitution score, though it still has many of the immunities and attributes of an unliving body as noted in the Special Qualities section.

Feats: A clone construct gains Endurance and Diehard as bonus feats.

Challenge Rating: Same as the base creature +3.

Level Adjustment: Same as the base creature +2.
