Dear Colleague

Re: Interview Panels for Core Surgical Training – Urgent Request

We are grateful to you all for your support during this difficult period of recruitment into run-through training. Our interview panels are well established in most specialties but we have a major problem in identifying consultants for panels for Core Surgical Training.

We have 2 days planned for Core Surgical Training interviews. The first is on 16th May 07, when we will interview 80 candidates and we will need 28 consultants (4 panels). Presently 6 Consultants have confirmed. The second day is 23rd May 07 when we shall interview 131 candidates and need 35 consultants (5 panels). So far 10 have confirmed that they can come. Thus we require from the 20 Trusts involved, at least 2 consultants for each of the 2 days involved. We enclose a list of those consultants who have already agreed to come. We wonder if it would be possible to identify within your Trust further consultant surgeons who would be prepared to attend. Please note that we would like representation from all the surgical specialties, and particularly the two larger specialties, general surgery and trauma and orthopaedics. We wonder if the best way to identify appropriate consultants would be for you to pass this message on to your service unit manager for surgery and ask him/her to identify consultants who would be willing to come, and make appropriate arrangements for their clinical commitments on that day to be cancelled.

We would be grateful if you or your service unit manager in surgery could let us know as soon as possible the consultants who agree to come by contacting lynsey.sennitt@easterndeanery.nhs.uk Please note that these consultants do need to be trained in the new interview process, and if they haven’t been to one of our training days they can get trained on-line: http://www.elearningworkpsychology.com/specialtyselection/

PLEASE DEAL WITH THIS REQUEST URGENTLY.
