Statement from Professor Neil Douglas, Vice Chairman of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and President of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh

The Review Group announced by the Department of Health into recruitment and selection for specialist medical training met for the first time today. It has made good progress to address many of the concerns raised by doctors. We are committed to ensuring that trainee doctors are properly supported and fairly treated, and that the NHS is able to train and recruit the best doctors for the future. We have set in motion a work plan to deliver solutions quickly. The review team will be meeting again on Friday 9 March and will make a further announcement on progress as soon as possible. Ends
