If you have something you want to post here
Look through the index and see if you can find an article relevant to the subject of your text.
If you find one: Go ahead and get your ctrl+v on. Paste the entire text in a new section, and don't worry about editing it yet. At least one revision of the article ought to have the full source, so it can be referred to freely when making a condensed version.
If you don't find one: Make it yourself. Throw a name in the search box and press "Go". It would be nice if you divided it into neat sections and sorted it out a bit. But if you want, you can just vomit the entire raw paste into the text field. The most important thing is to get all of the source material, even if it looks like ass, because that can be fixed later.
If you aren't sure what to do: Chuck it into the pastebin. Someone will find a place for it eventually.
If you want to help make this wiki not a pile of crap
Go through the index and find articles that look like balls. Put them into neat paragraphs, delete irrelevant posts, take out redundant information, expand on shit that nobody explained. Make things as clear as you can and add safety warnings where due - a retarded six-year-old should be able to follow your instructions without maiming himself. Put supply lists as high in the article as you can, and make sure they're complete - nobody likes getting started on a project and immediately dropping everything to rush to the store and buy some essential component the author didn't feel like mentioning before step 17.
Go through the pastebin and find posts that belong somewhere. Most of them will fit into an existing article pretty nicely. Others overlap with the content of existing articles - in this case, one or the other will need to be trimmed to avoid redundancy. Some of them will need to have articles created for them. They'll need to be formatted too, and edited to not look awful - this is pretty straightforward, and should not be too big of a deal.

Sure. You can. My purpose on this site is to block chumps, delete crap articles, tinker with system functions and generally keep things under control. I edit articles, of course, because I want them to be accurate and useful, but I am not your maid. I am not going to wipe your ass for you. The name of the board is "do it yourself", not "ask other people to do it for you".

Awesome. Go for it. If your new idea turns out to be retarded, I'm probably going to make things go back to the way they were, but that's no reason not to at least give it a shot. Unless you actually do it, you'll have no way of knowing if it works, and neither will anyone else.

Yes you do. Most of the wiki formatting you'll need will be explained right above the text box when you're editing. And it's pretty much retard-proof. Not knowing the markup is no excuse to constantly crap out horrible formatting. If you're completely lost, open the edit box for a decently-formatted article (like this one) and just imitate it. If you end up with a trainwreck, you can always just revert to the previous version. And if you do something you can't clean up, like misspelling an article title or moving a page to the wrong name, just leave a message on my user page and I'll take care of it with 1337 admin h4x.
