Wirral, officially known as the
Democratic Republic of Wirral, is a small independent nation in the continent of
Phyrros and a former constituent nation of the now defunct
Kingdom of BRIGONIA. It is a member of the
Hexarchy, the group of six independent nations which were the result of the fall of the Kingdom of BRIGONIA in 2342 after a long series of civil war. It is a democratic republic with the head of the government being the Chief Minister which is also the presiding officer of the DIECHTINDARMHT, the country's parliament. The head of state of the nation is the CENHALLORITH, an elected officer who is also the military's commander in chief. Both the CENHALLORITH and the members of parliament are elected by the people to a three year term by which they are not allowed to hold any position for two consecutive terms. The country's parliament has 24 members and from among them they elect the Chief Minister to head their group. The country's military is composed of 3,000 strong men and women divided into 3 brigades. The military's central headquarters is at the national capital,
RASHN, from here the military's high brass commands their subordinate. The military is headed by the chief of staff which normally holds the rank of Major General. Basic education in WIRRAL is compulsory and each person are expected to finish up to the sixth year. Higher education is optional, those who wish to gain a degree in a specific discipline may choose to study from the several public and private colleges and universities in the country. Basic education is free but there are also some schools who charge fees, higher education on the other hand is not free and requires those who wish to study to pay a specified amount of fee. Most colleges requires their student's to live within the campus or around it. The Ministry of Education and Culture governs all the educational institutions and operates most of the elementary or basic education schools in the country. The Board of Governors for Higher Education sets the standards by which colleges operate and accredits academic programs. The premier academic institution for higher learning is the
DEBUOU UNIVERSITY, a private university ranked as the fifth best university in the
HEXARCHY, followed by the
UNIVERSITY OF WIRRAL, a public university and the largest in the country in terms of enrollment. WIRRAL has its own state church, the Church of Wirral, which currently has at least 78% of the country's population adhering to it, the rest of the population are members of other church. The country's geography is mostly mountainous with several lush plains. Numerous active volcanoes and hilly countryside also dots the terrain of this nation. The country experiences four seasons; spring, summer, fall, and winter, aside from these seasons the country also experience strong storms which can devastate the nation. Currently the country is fighting a war with its neighboring country TAFF over a disputed territory, many are fearing that this would escalate to the full scale war. LANGUAGE: predominantly Easting.
