[edit] Light Year

The light-year is a unit of length used to express astronomical distances and is about 9.5 trillion kilometers or 5.9 trillion miles. This defined as the the distance that light travels in vacuum in one Julian year (365.25 days). Light travels at about 300,000 km per seconds which is also called as light-second. A light-year is roughly equal to 9,461,000,000,000 km.

[edit] Astronomical Unit

The Astronomical Unit or AU is a standard unit for measuring huge distances between planets or other celestial objects. It is defined as the distance between the Earth and the Sun which is roughly equal to 150 million km or 149,600,000 km to be precise.

[edit] Mass

[edit] Solar Mass

A Solar Mass (MS or simply as M) is a unit of measuring masses for stellar objects. It is the mass of the Sun or is roughly equal to 1.989 x 1030 kg. It is equal to 1,047.95 MJ, 333,054.25 ME or 27,061,224.49 ML.

[edit] Jupiter Mass

A Jupiter Mass (MJ) is a unit of measuring masses for sub-stellar and massive planetary objects. It is the mass of Jupiter or is roughly equal to 1.897 x 1027 kg. It is equal to 317.82 ME or 25,823.13 ML.

[edit] Earth Mass

A Earth Mass (ME) is a unit of measuring masses for planetary objects. It is the mass of the Earth or is roughly equal to 5.972 x 1024 kg. It is equal to 81.25 ML.

[edit] Lunar Mass

A Lunar Mass (ML) is a unit of measuring masses for sub-planetary objects. It is the mass of the Moon or is roughly equal to 7.35 x 1022 kg.

[edit] Length

[edit] Solar Radius

A Solar Radius (RS or simply as R) is a unit of measuring radius for stellar objects. It is the radius of the Sun or is roughly equal to 695,700 km. A Solar Diameter is equal to 1,391,400 km.

[edit] Jupiter Radius

A Jupiter Radius (RJ) is a unit of measuring radius for sub-stellar and large planetary objects. It is the radius of the Jupiter or is roughly equal to 69,911 km. A Solar Diameter is equal to 139,822 km.

[edit] Earth Radius

An Earth Radius (RE) is a unit of measuring radius for planetary objects. It is the radius of the Earth or is roughly equal to 6.371 km. An Earth Diameter is equal to 12,742 km.

[edit] Lunar Radius

A Lunar Radius (RL) is a unit of measuring radius for sub-planetary objects. It is the radius of the Moon or is roughly equal to 1,737 km. A Lunar Diameter is equal to 3,474 km.

[edit] Others

[edit] Luminosity

This is the standard unit of measuring an objects luminosity as compared with the Sun. the unit is used to denote the apparent luminosity of stellar objects and sub-stellar objects in relation to the luminosity of the Sun.
