Nike Laos (registered March 4, 2006) known simply as Laos, formerly Writtenz, registered as a member of nobodysmiling.com for the first time on January 15, 2006. In forgetting the passsword to this username, GoldenChild, he would reregister as BlackAristotle a few months later. In the period of about six months, Laos established himself and is still considered one of the site's most dominant battlers, prolific lyricists and greatest writers. Although hailing from the now long defunct website, emceeboard.com, Laos is best known as a representative of the nobodysmiling.com Freestyle Lyrics and Battle community.

EmceeBoard

Laos, whose full textcee name means "victory of the people" in Greek, began his textcee career under the name Nightmare on the now defunct website, emceeboard.com, in November of 2005. After reading the lyrics posted in the first text battle he'd ever witnessed, between veterans Sir Issac Newton and Gawd's Easel, Laos decided to give text battling a try.

Laos would call out middleweight battler Dorian to a match, only to recieve his first loss as a battler. Far from discouraged, Laos battled Dorian again, avenging his loss with a stunning Knockout victory. Impressed by the display, veteran Gawd's Easel reached out to the budding textcee, showing Laos the ropes. And under the tutelage of Gawd's Easel, Laos amassed a record of 10 wins, 10 knockouts and 4 losses.

Feeling himself ready to take on his mentor, Laos called out Gawd's Easel. With ease, the vastly more experienced Gawd's Easel easily took the battle, winning the match by way of knockout. Undaunted by his loss, Laos again called out his mentor, only to be showed up yet again, also via knockout. Still unbelieving of his inferiority skillwise to his mentor, he again battled Gawd's Easel, only to see the same result.

Weary of being beaten, Laos left emceeboard, putting his textcee days behind him.

NoBodySmiling.com

After leaving his first site, Laos stumbled onto the website NoBodySmiling.com. Although he registered in January of 2006, he could not remember the password nor the username to his account and simply made a new one on March 4, 2006. Still wary of battling, Laos simply used NoBodySmiling as a means to keep track of Hip-Hop related news and events. After a two month period of inactivity postwise, Laos made his first post in the Social, Political, World News section of the site, engaging in a debate over racism with member Republican Willy.

Quickly bored with Willy's rhetoric, Laos finally journeyed into the site's text battling section. Still a little wary of actually battling, Laos posted a few keystyles he had written during his period of inactivity. His first piece, "The Newcomer", was praised by members. However, Laos was accused of biting by LivingLegend, because the opening two bars of LL's piece vaguely resembled Laos'. The moderator at the time, J High, quickly intervened on the behalf of Laos, noting that Laos' vocabulary far surpassed that of LivingLegend's, a verdict the entire community agreed upon.

The debacle put behind him, Laos decided to breathe life back into his fairly short battling career, answering an open callout made by middleweight battler BLAZEInfinite. Agreeing to the battle, Laos faced off against BLAZE to unfornunately lose via a 5-4 split decision. Despite his loss, Laos had earned the respect of many lightweights, and was subsequently challenged by LyricalTampon. Accepting the challenge, Laos would defeat LyricalTampon via forfeit, being awarded his first win as a member of nobodysmiling.com.

After defeating LyricalTampon, Laos called out SouthernAdvocate who defeated Laos by way of Knockout. Seeing this, battlers The Only 1, later Streets King, and SinPopYaDome, later Hazerd, challenged Laos. Laos easily defeated them both, earning himself two wins via knockout.

At that time, JuliaS, a respected middleweight battler, had begun sign-ups for a Lightweight Tournament, inviting Laos and 15 others to participate. In round one, Laos was pitted against IronAddict, a match Laos would lose by way of knockout. It was later discovered that IronAddict was in fact Sir Rhymes Alot, a well known veteran. Excusing the loss and banning SRA, Laos was readmitted to the tournament.

While this was happening, Laos had formed a crew with rival BLAZEInfinite, friends Freez3, Vex, Ne 1, Cannonz, and later arabflowsta once Vex went inactive. As a part of this crew, Laos would step up his battle activity, engaging Texas Truth and Comp Lex in topical battles, beating the latter and losing to the former.

In the next two rounds of the tournament, Laos defeated Big Country/Mysterio Doom and his crewmate Freez3 via knockout. He would advance to battle against the heavily favored-to-win R Tha Phacts, who was expected to take the whole tournament. In a stunning upset, Laos cast R Tha Phacts aside easily, adding yet another knockout victory to his record.

In completing a clean sweep of the tournament from the point of his readmittance, Laos advanced to the finals and was pitted against his crewmate, Cannonz, who was going by the name A Star at the time. Before dropping his verse, Laos would change his name to Chaos Theory, after playing the Tom Clancy title. In a long, drawn out battle that lasted two weeks, Laos was defeated via a 5-4 decision, the deciding vote cast by returning veteran Fracture. Dismayed by the vote and subsequent loss of the championship, Laos would later challenge Fracture and defeat him in a 5-3 decision.

In the aftermath of the lightweight tournament, Laos had become recognized as one of the site's premier lightweights and possibly a low tier middleweight and changed his name to Infamous Thoughts in honor of his then most favored emcee, Immortal Technique. During this period, Laos became very concerned with the slow elevation of other lightweights and insultingly called out all the vets, blaming them for not aiding in the development of the lightweights' skills. Incensed, veteran Triggernutz cited Laos as a hypocrite and released a diss rap attacking him and later knocked him out in a text battle. Another veteran, [AllEyezOnUs]], diguised as Or1Iz joined in the Laos-bashing with a diss rap, although Laos was able to defeat AEOU in a 5-4 split decision.

In coming away with a win over the first veteran to reach the 100-win mark, AEOU, Laos again changed his name, this time adopting "Overflow" as his moniker, under the impression that his mind was overflowing with lyrics. In defeating several battlers, losing a few times, and obtaining the Middleweight title from R Tha Phacts, Overflow became heralded as the greatest battler among those who were not vets, seconded only by the then middleweight Snuffleupagus, formerly Texas Truth. In holding the Middleweight and Lightweight titles simultaneously, Laos was dubbed the first Cruiserweight Champion.

The Writtenz Era

A few months passed, and in December of 2006 veteran In-TiMe returned to NBS after a 4 year hiatus. In a display of utter domination, In-TiMe defeated every heavyweight, middleweight and lightweight on site by way of knockout, amassing 43 wins and only 1 loss to Fracture.

Teaming with In-TiMe, Overflow won the tag team titles via KO over proven veterans Sir Rhymes Alot and Dirty Words. Overflow would then, accompanied by Fracture, Choda, Little, BWS Souljah and Zeel, win the Crew Crowns title in the crew B.O.W, the Best On Web.

During his simultaneous Crew Crown, Tag Team, Cruiserweight, Middlewight, and Lightweight reign, Overflow changed his name to Writtenz, choosing to develop his skill as a writer by picking up novel writing and poetry alongside writing lyrics, realizing that his greatest skill lie in the written word.

As the months went by, Writtenz would lose his Middleweight title in a stunning loss to former crewmate Zeel, be stripped of his lightweight title after several defenses and his tag partner In-TiMe would get locked up, leaving Writtenz as the most dominant battler on the site, amassing about 33 wins and losing only twice to veterans Little and Fracture. In the summer of 2007, Writtenz would try his hand at the vet title, only to be no-showed by Snuffleupagus, then beaten by Choda. Irate over losing a battle he knew that he won, Writtenz ceased battling on NBS.

The Return To EmceeBoard

Upset over the loss to an arguably lesser textcee, Laos returned to his first home site, emceeboard. In his absence, head administrator ThisJussIn had won the Heavyweight Title in a stunning upset over old school veteran bLoOdLuSt. Unsure of where to begin, Laos sought out his now longtime friend and rival, Gawd's Easel, now going by the name Finesse.

Finesse had amassed a massive win column, his staggering win record standing at 116 victories, all but 10 of them being knockouts. His loss column also attested to his skill, with only 24 defeats to his name. Impressed, Laos asked his former mentor to battle him. Happy to oblige, Finesse battled Laos for the fourth time, this battle ending in a 5-4 victory for Finesse. Not bothered in the slightest, as Laos felt Finesse was better than he, Laos continued to battle on his old home site, defeating quite a few vets and middleweights along the way.

Finesse however, had grown weary of the immature nature of the then veteran champion, ThisJussIn, banning anyone who voted against him. Annoyed by the champion's behavior, Finesse called TJI out and defeated him in a much expected knockout fashion. Angered by the loss, TJI banned Finesse for a week, citing that Finesse had bitten his verse, only to repeal the ban when no evidence could be provided.

As the new champion, Finesse defeated all his challengers, well on his way to 13 straight successful defenses, all by way of KO. Seeing this as his only opportunity to claim two things at once, the Heavyweight title and a win over his mentor, Laos called Finesse out and battled him, for the fifth and final time.

In a long, three week battle, Laos was finally able to defeat his old mentor in a stunning upset, taking the battle via a 5-4 decision, taking the title of the EmceeBoard Heaveweight Champion. Proud of his achievement, Laos allowed ThisJussIn to have a title shot and defeated him. As immature as he was, TJI had enough respect for Laos to not ban him from the site, instead only banning him from the battle forum. In an unprecedented move, Laos defended his title in the Sports Section, again successfully retaining his belt. Satisfied, Laos again left emceeboard, this time for good, as the immaturity of TJI lead to him deleting the site after losing via knockout to lightweight battler 8realz.

The End Of The Writtenz Era: NoBodySmiling.com II

By this time, Writtenz had become the central moderator for FLaB after JuliaS had gotten a job and left FLaB behind for about 13 months from late 2006 to late 2007. Heralded as the best moderator since the tenure of the lengendary J High, Writtenz, along with partners Fracture, BlazeInfinite and to a lesser degree Space Godzilla aka SGza, rebuilt FLaB from the massive mess that JuliaS had left in the wake of his departure.

Turning his attention to keystyling, Laos became heralded as top 3, or even the best keystylist on the board. Pushed by Lungzz some months later to return, Writtenz again battled for the title, winning in a 5-4 split decision. But upon discussing who had voted, Writtenz and Lungzz agreed to throw out lightweight votes, leading to a Lungzz 5-4 victory, effectively ending the reign of Writtenz as the best battler on site, losing to an arguably lesser textcee.

Writtenz made an account called "Nabu 1", after the Mesopotamian god of wisdom and writing, because he was vain enough to "retire" his old BlackAristotle-Chaos Theory-Infamous Thoughts-Overflow-Writtenz account, and started to only use the Nabu 1 account, signing in as Writtenz only to close battles. Writtenz then went to college and was inactive for four months straight, then came back one day and asked xx_Anni3_xx to demod him because of his inactivity, and she did.

Writtenz then came under fire from literally everyone in FLaB for dubbing himself Grand Champion even though he'd never actually beaten anyone for the vet title, and said to himself that if there was this much hate, he might as well just leave and then had his account deleted. Only to return 2 months later because he felt FLaB would die out completely without a mod, as the mod replacement he chose, Lungzz, had been banned for "being immature". A few other members were banned over the situation as well.

Not knowing about the new mod who was added to the roster, Syn, Writtenz tried to get his spot back, but was denied on the grounds that "he might leave again". Writtenz didn't feel that this mod, Syn, would hold down the battle section well, although Writtenz was eventually proven wrong and Writtenz began to work with the new mod, Syn, who was entrusted with the moderation of several sections for his good work as a mod.

After some undeniably terrible situations occured in his off-net life, Writtenz took up his government name and stripped it to its greek roots, Nike Laos, which in English means "Victory of The People".

Feeling himself more than just a writer, he completely denounced the name Writtenz and accepted Nike Laos as both his emcee/author/poet name and his life's creed. And now, he is attempting to become a published author, poet, established and respectable emcee, a Doctor of Philosophy, a master of English, and a master of Mass Communications, in order to work in television/movies/cartoons as a screenwriter and producer.

Nike Laos continues to battle and keystyle sporadically, but has devoted most of his energies to his dreams, all mentioned in the above paragraph. He also continues to work alongside moderators in maintaining the FLaB section of NBS, especially in this current time of inactivity.

Emcee Career

Under his text moniker, Writtenz, Laos began his emcee career in the summer of 2007. After much toiling and dedication, Laos would complete his first mixtape, the unreleased "The Double Helix". However, Laos would end up shelving the tape, concerned that it would need tweaking before he officially released it. Putting that aside, Laos began work on his second project which would end up being his first official mixtape, "Victory Of The People", dropping it solely on the web on April 4, 2008.

After recieving generally good reviews, although they were few in number, Laos was invited to participate in the third installment of a collaborative mixtape featuring nothing but emcees and producers registered with nobodysmiling.com, hosted by textcee turned emcee, Tha Nice One. Alongside that project, Laos has been working with fellow textcee turned emcee, TW-1, formerly Snuffleupagus, on a mixtape tenatively titled The Sample Kings: Volume I. But more than just netcees, Laos has also been working with his track team brothers on a comedy-rap mixtape entitled "We Sprint Hotfire."

Keeping his solo career in mind, Laos has begun work on a poetry mixtape, tenatively titled Reflections of a Fallen Angel, expecting to release it online in the fall of 2008. Once that is complete, he intends to begin work on his second official mixtape, a tape he plans to shop both on and off of the web.
