Erasmus Forde

Erasmus Forde, a wealthy wool merchant, came to live in Thames Ditton and described himself ' of Ditton upon Tamys, gent '. He was buried in the Lady Chapel of St Nicholas Church, Thames Ditton and left a splendid monument showing his wife and their 18 offspring.[2]
His grandfather was Sir Adam fforde, and his father was Walter fforde, who had been Treasurer to King Edward IV during the victorious hostilities in connection with the siege of Berwick.[2]
Erasmus made a will on 6th March 1531, which included the request for a special tomb in St Nicholas Church. He died on 21st July 1533, and his wife Julyan died 26 years after.[2]
Erasmus lived at Forde's Farm, a large house near St Nicholas Church, Thames Ditton.[2]
Forde owned properties over a wide area. [2]
