As for the second comment regarding ripping out other people's stories, I just wanted to apologize for that. @Platypus Hey! I just had a grammar related question since you said you were something of a grammar Nazi and Googling for the word I'm searching for hasn't worked. What's the word for 'seeking out someone's better/good nature'? You know, like when someone is begging someone and they try to find the good part of them to guilt trip them. For some reason the word 'apply' comes to mind but that's not right. 'Apply to someone's good nature'. Nope. While not strictly grammar related, I can't think of anyone else to ask. Problems with links

Hey Platypus. I'm having a problem with the links to other pages on my story 120 Minutes Remain. When I'm signed in, the main Category shows me the full 66 pages that I have already completed, but when I'm signed out it only shows the first 37 pages and no others. However, when I read through the story normally, the full 66 pages are present. I know that I haven't explained this very well, but if you could visit the Category: 120 Minutes Remain while signed out, you will see what I mean.
I tried to report this bug, but the page doesn't load when I do this, for whatever reason. If you could check it out yourself/ give me any tips on how to fix it, that would be much appreciated.

Moving project

Hi Platypus,

Would you be interested in moving the project to its own domain and server? It's become painfully clear EditThis is not capable of supporting the project's infrastructure and is hindering the continued growth of the project. I've noticed several issues which are causing problems for CYOS:

  • The throttling is disrupting both readers and writers from fully enjoying the stories.
  • Excessive abuse filters are causing administrative issues for you.
  • Lack of anti-abuse tools makes it extremely inefficient to counter abuse.
  • Extremely outdated MediaWiki installation which hasn't been updated in nearly 8 years.

We can fix all of the above problems and implement a mass undo feature, a mobile version of the website, and do much more to create a modern CYOS-type website once we move to a new domain and server. Ya, it's just the actual lead administrator isn't reachable and appears to have abandoned the project years ago for you to run. There's really nothing stopping the members of the community from getting up and moving their stories and content to a new website that's actually managed and has the features CYOS needs. For example, I think an actual notification system (see the Echo extension available for MediaWiki) would be helpful for writers to keep track of new story developments. There are lots of useful features available to newer versions of MediaWiki. I think also thinking of a client-side story customization tool, which would allow readers to customize the names and other parameters of stories without changing the story for everyone else. In short, there's great potential in the project, but EditThis is hindering progress. Spider 16:27, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

Okay, I have asked Teejay, but, he isn't really that strong in critiquing. I have been trying to write my Masochist me, and been hung up on my training. I am enjoying writing it alot, and trying to make sure that the reader actually understand sex, as opposed to some of the stuff that ends up in the stories on here. But, I was thinking. I am wondering, should I even bother writing this? I mean, the entire story, while it will have some vanilla sex in it, and might use a little of the current material I am writing as fodder, it is not really "the story". I realize that there are many stories here that have inconsistencies, and go off on some side thing that have nothing to do with the plot, but I am wondering if there is any use in all this research and writing. It helps, slightly, to highlight the main character, show the reader what she is like, what she is experiencing, and compares and contrasts some of the differences between her and a normal, vanilla woman, so I know it isn't completely pointless. I am also having fun researching the different steps in sex, and trying to teach the reader about human sexuality, but it is not an educational story either. Can you let me know your thoughts? Is my The teacher part of the story pointless, a waste of time, etc? Will readers even care about this part, since they are probably coming to the story to read about a woman being slapped and hit, tied and bound, tortured and humiliated? I mean, to me, this feels needed, just to get the users to think about the world she is living in, and about who she is herself. But, well, I am not the other readers on this site. Am I going to far, and should stick to simple, "I moaned as the paddle fell across my ass, red welt left behind. He grabbed my hair, forcing my head up from across his knee, and held my gaze to his. "Are you going to be good now, or do you need more?" I shot him my best defiant look. "Well, in that case," with that, he stopped talking, shoved me back over his knee and brought the belt down over and over and over again. My ass was on fire, which only make me wetter, and forced me to moan and scream, cry and kick harder. God, I was about to climax from the sheer sweetness of the pain, mind wrapped in a blissful haze."

Well, finished changing the ages in Hot & Horny on the Jessica path. All her pages should show her as 21 now. I was going to start the Miranda path, and I changed a few of the ages, but not up for reading them, and stopped making the changes. Some of the story lines just sound too much like the 6 year old that it originally was, and I find it creepy. Guess I will let you or someone else change her stuff. Sadly, the Josh stuff with Jessica was okay, but I didn't like the part where she goes into her parents bedroom. Not really something I am interested in, not with the tone and way the writer made it. I sort of lost it when I saw the "I'm about to pop an egg". Stopped reading and just edited the age only. I mean, I have seen stupid lines, but really? wtf is that? Wish the writers could at least try to "imagine" what a real woman might say... I mean, "Cum inside my womb and impregnate me" is bad enough, but really, "I'm about to pop an egg" I think may be the single, stupidest thing I have ever heard. Simple Question

Hey, Platypus, I seem to be having a rather strange issue, and since you seem to get around in this site, figured I would ask you. I'm working on my story Fallout: New Vegas, and having a small issue with the category pages. More specifically, the page counter. On the "F" page, I tried to configure it like other stories to count the number of pages in the category "FNV". When I am logged out, the counter says one page. When I am logged in, it says the actual amount (still small, just starting), but I would like to figure out why this is and how to fix it. Anyways, whenever you get a chance if you could look at it or give me an answer it would be greatly appreciated.

I have attempted to add a link like there is to an index of characters you can possess in Rampage, yet for the items in my story The Library's Secret (I am still working on it, just a few pages in, it's Family-Friendly... It's going to be pretty good). I am unable to add a link like in Rampage. The wiki thinks it's an "external link" and that I'm a spammer. Could you please help me?

However, there is a link like the one I wanted to make in the story Rampage, on the very first page. It leads to a category of characters that, as a bodiless spirit, you are able to possess thrpugh an internal link. Tonight I posted, underneath the subject "Voicing my Concerns:"

We are all gonna be wrecked if a large group of vandals attack, dealing widespread damage to all our pages. We have over 100,000 articles, which means lots of prey to vandals. The can plague us with bad grammer, blanking our hard-worked stories, shredding user pages, and most of all, ruining things before the only active sysop comes on to discover that about 1,000 pages have been ruined. As he tries to duct tape them back together while swinging his ban-hammer at the vandals to perma-block them, we are left with everything ruined.

Also, think about how much damage they can do to us that we won't know about. They might have underage sex stories that we can't reach because they aren't listed, or maybe have ruined hundreds of stories that people don't read. Thus, it will take forever to repair the damage. If vandals attack us, we have one active sysop, a sysadmin that is difficult to contact, and a sysadmin that likes to not log in! We are sitting here as prey. PREY!! We need more sysops/sysadmins!

Platypus, I know you're thinking, What do you want, Magikarp7297? Well, the answer is: inspiration. As you may have found out, I write a dozen or two stories at once. My latest is called Going to School. I need inspiration for where the character should go (via walking, bicycle, or the bus) and what should happen. Anything in the Family-Friendly range should work. Finding a group of bikers that are actually trolls in disguise? That can work. Riding a rainbow to find a leprechaun, leading to you fighting it? It works. Getting raped by a homosexual fiery bird? Fuck no (that there 6 year old would be scarred for life!). Cussing at a rock? Probably wouldn't work. Also, keep in mind that the main ending will be where you finally arrive at school. Reply to Blocking

In regards to the blocking of DeleterACC17, I had lost the password for the account I contributed with (due to it being 3+ years old) but I really wanted to remove the pages content (quite badly honestly). I was planning on doing it manually but it seems that won’t be possible. If there was any way to delete all three of these accounts and all contributions that would be honestly quite a relief. I detached the story from the story list years ago and was gradually deleting content until for some reason I stopped.

I'm smiling right now. It's kind of humorous, how I'm the guy who makes very good points about subjects that concern him, and you are the authority.

So, anyways, I just messaged *Milk Tea* and posted some stuff to him in the general discussion. I suppose that's all.

Today Mr. Dick Admin made two posts about me in the forums, and on a thread that seemed good to me! It was entitled "The World's Future - Dystopia or Utopia?" He really is a dick. EndMaster is like the jackass, while Mizal is the person who actually likes me. He said:

And honestly, I hope you fucking live through the initial blasts. And no you won’t be some post apocalyptic badass, you’ll be the same dumb ass pathetic fuck you are now.

At best, the only reason you’ll last for any length of time is because you’ll still have enough blubber on you to not starve right away and you’ll be so fucking desperate you’ll have no problems debasing yourself in order to get some water which will only be enough to wash the salty taste out of your mouth after blowing whatever local warlord decided you were entertaining enough to not kill and eat right away.

Which is what might happen to you anyway after they’re done fucking every hole you have and a few that they creatively made themselves.

Better yet, they just eventually get bored and leave you to waste away in some shithole ransacked ruin so you can experience the agonizing slow death of your fucking body which will now be fucking rotting from five forms of cancer brought on by the nukes and toxic fucking waste while you’re as you desperately scrounge around for a can of expired tuna.

Eventually you won’t have the strength to carry on, puking and shitting blood every five minutes. You’ll ultimately die as you lived: Usless, hopeless, and alone.

That will be the story of you and it will be fucking hilarious.

My only wish would be is I could be there to see the agonized look on your face so I could have my dog piss in it before your last pleading gasp as the light slowly went out of your eyes.

Rogues is the newest, clocking in at over half a million words. Wow. Where did you get that last part about life and meaning? Wikipedia? Your father or grandfather? Wisdom? Or are you just going fucking philosopher on us now? At any rate, a dozen years ago the site had 10 stories. Now it has maybe 1,000 or even more, yet it's not very active. Actually, I take take that back. It is active, you just got to look at Recent Changes, as I discovered.

Hey, do you know if there's possibly a way to revive the Spellcheck? It seems pretty useful, if only it worked.

So, I have an idea that I'm writing. It's basically just going to be what happens in your mind. Try to be as detailed as possible. I think that with you, people would get a good sense of what responsible things happen with you, and have a true understanding about us. It's better than only me writing one, in which casesome people might think that everyone on the site is somewhere ranging from some weird guy who lives in a closet to the next Adolf Hitler.
