You look up voodoo love spells on the internet and find one you think you might try. You need some dirt from her yard and one of her possessions, but you take care of that easily enough by stealing a lawn ornament late at night. You follow the directions to bury a photo and and the object with some strands of your own hair and planting seven seeds above it. You wait anxiously for the seeds to start growing as evidence that the spell is working. When you see the first sprouts, it's time to see if the spell works.
