You are nearly drunk enough to pass out but not quite. You decide to walk out in the rain, down the old railway tracks towards the shop with the cheap whiskey. You stumble a little as you walk along the tracks and wonder if you should just lie down on them. You laugh bitterly to yourself as you keep going. You find the short path from the tracks to the cheap shop. You go inside picking up the cheapest whiskey they have and paying at the counter. The shop keeper looks at you in disgust but takes your money. As you leave you raise the bottle to him, laughing lightly as you head back into the rain.
Up ahead in a doorway you see a shape. It's dark so it could be anything or anyone. You put the whiskey inside your coat and keep your head down as you walk.
"Got a fag?" asks the shape as you pass. You stop amazed, the voice was that of a young woman not some old wino.
