"Sure," you say, morbidly curious about this "People Haters Club" thing.
The next day, Thelma leads you to her house. By 4 p.m. everyone has arrived. "I'd like to introduce out newest member," Thelma grins. She tells everyone your name. There are 5 boys, all with similar scowls on their faces to the one that normally inhabits yours. Hank, Ray, Kyle, Mike and Tim mumble an acknowledgement. There are three girls other than Thelma. Kim is as wide as she is tall, Raven is skinny and Goth-looking (her hair, clothes and makeup are all black), and Gloria's face looks pitted and scarred. She's of average build. They smile at you briefly.
"Tell us why you hate people," Thelma prompts you. You go into a 45-minute monologue. When you finish, there's general agreement.
"My face got like this when my brother had a mishap with a chemistry set," Gloria says in response to your unspoken question. "He was 7 and I was just 4. People scorn me and I do the same to them."
"No one pays attention to the fat chick," Kim grouses. "Except to make fun of me. I'm actually really nice if you treat me right."
Thelma's mom serves refreshments, and you all chat about how the world, specifically other people, suck.
