“Maybe you could drop them by later tonight,” you hopefully.

Lin thinks for a moment and then says, “I guess that’s okay. How many boxes did you want?”

“About a dozen,” you reply, thinking that a larger order is going to impress her more. “Thanks. Is 7 o’clock a good time?”

“Um… yeah, that should work,” Lin says. “Claire?”

“I’ve got that school project to finish tonight, remember? I’ll get the money from you on Monday,” Claire replies.

Lin looks a little less certain now, but she still says, “Okay. I’ll bring the cookies by around 7.”

The rest of the day passes as you anxiously wait for Lin to get back. You’re hoping that she’s going to show up, and you also home you have a plan to keep her return from just being a 30 second cookie drop off. Maybe you should have taken more immediate action, but you really wanted to get Lin by herself.

Those thoughts scatter when you hear a knock at the door. You open it up and Lin is standing there with a bag of cookies in her hand. Gone is the Girl Scout Uniform, but instead she’s wearing a T-shirt and shorts. She gives you a nervous smile, saying, “I’ve got your cookies right here.”
