Interesting – perhaps the Goblins are making ready for war? Even they are afraid of the power the Archmage will wield now he has the Codpiece. But it is of no use to you – you are not here to raid Goblin mines for yourself. You cannot risk the future of Analland for trinkets. So instead, you slip around the side of the clearing to a path leading onwards and down the far side of the hill.
You follow a path that leads sharply downhill into a narrow valley in which a stream runs. There's no path along the bank but there is a line of rocks that might be able to act as stepping stones.
You test the first stone – it seems firm. You reach the other side unscathed, and continue walking. You walk for a few hours through light forest, dappled with sun, until you are climbing the side of a steep ridge.
