Daetyrnis is a member of Charas, one who often views the site, but doesn't post much. This is due to his overall laziness as well as his general lack of motivation. Daetyrnis is also known as Ruler of the Dark, as that was the username of his first account on Charas.

Charas History

The Beginning

When Daetyrnis joined in 2004 (as Ruler of the Dark) he, like other members, was incredably n00bish. His first post (February 2, 2004, 6:13 pm) used the word ur instead of your, and the word I was not capitalized. This brings him much shame, as he is now grammatically correct to an extreme degree, and now finds texttalk very annoying. His first thread, which was posted in April 2004, was titled My new game and consisted of three low-quality screenshots and a few one-liners about the alleged plotline. After little more than one day, Daetyrnis dropped the game he posted about and started a new one (consisting of even less information than his previous game). This game too was dropped soon after. Daetyrnis made several Request Threads (for others to request in), though each was abandoned after a while. Daetyrnis's commitment level has been proven low, time and time again.

Midrange - Name Change

Daetyrnis did not post much during this time, and thus little resulted from this period. His grammar and spelling improved, and he began to show talent for programming with RPGMaker as well as for spriting. Though he did not post much, he viewed the current threads an a daily basis. As October 2006 drew near, Daetyrnis drifted away from Charas, and barely even viewed the forums anymore. He had found another forum that caught his interest, and he had, in effect, migrated there. On October 5th, 2006, Daetyrnis decided that he should become an active member of Charas. He created a new account to match his common username, and began to post.

October 2006 - Present Day

Daetyrnis began to post more, now posting more than once every week or two. He has contributed tutorials for specific and general topics, sometimes answering simple questions from newbs in long-winded, verbose explanations. He made several All-of-All topics, and posted a thread centered around his own sprites.

Talents and Personality

RPGMaker

Though the exact date that Daetyrnis started using RPGMaker 2003 is unknown, he has used it for more than two years, and has explored every facet of the program. Through his own experiments, and by observing the techniques of others, he has become a self-proclaimed expert in all things RPGMaker.

Spriting

Though he always had a talent for spriting, Daetyrnis really came into his own recently, perhaps during the summer of 2006. He enjoyed the game Fire Emblem and loved the style of sprites in it, so he tried to emulate their appearence. At this point, he didn't do very well at a sprite from scratch. Only slightly deterred by the result, he proceeded to try his hand at some basic edits and splices, the result is seen in the last thread he posted as Ruler of the Dark.[1] He moved onto semi-custom edits, and eventually, full-blown customs. The time period of his largest improvement in spriting is when he had left Charas for another forum. Consequently, he ended up being regarded as a wondeful sprite artist there. After returning to Charas as Daetyrnis, he created another thread that depicted his then recent creations.[2]

Drawing

Offline, Daetyrnis is enrolled in a Regional Arts Program in his Highschool, something that he had to audition for to get in. He is a relatively good artist, and particularly enjoys drawing anime-styled characters. Although he only has one piece submitted to DeviantArt (note: more evidence for lack of motivation), you can visit his page to see his work.[3] Hopefully his gallery will increase in size within the near future.

Personality

Daetyrnis is a carefree person, who loves to have fun. He is generally spontaneous and enjoys a good laugh. He is very clumsy, and he like Chicken. Daetyrnis is very specific about grammar and spelling, and sometimes can be a perfectionist in this regard. He excels intellectually, shown by being enrolled in an Enhanced Learning Class from grades two through eight (before going to the artsy school XP). He likes coming across as smart over the internet, and loves to use logic to defeat his foes. Daetyrnis particularly detests idiots, and all people who act n00bish.

Random Tidbits

The Badger Thing

Whe Daetyrnis registered as Ruler of the Dark, he had a liking of badgers, and thus made his avatar a badger. Ever since then, his avatar has continously been badger-related, excluding a few occasions. Upon changing his avatar, he was advised to change it back to the badger, "or else".

64% of the posts in his return thread as Daetyrnis were about badgers, the badger song, or a variation of the badger song.[4]

Imposters!

When Daetyrnis was known as Ruler of the Dark, a total of 2 imposter accounts were made. Neither has any current posts, though Ruler of the Dark made one post, which was later deleted.

The verdict was that the username contained a superflous space (whether pre- or post- is unknown at this time). The avatar appears to be Sailor Venus from the anime Sailer Moon.

Other Things

Daetyrnis hasn't posted in the forum he left Charas for in quite some time. This either shows his lack of motivation, or his commitment to Charas. You decide!
