Wikiland, formally the Kingdom of Wikiland, is a planet in South East Florida. To its east, lie Laos and Bermuda; to its south, the Gulf of Mexico and Mayonnaisia; and to its west, the Andaman Sea and Bulma. Its capital and smallest city is Portland.

[edit] Etymology
The country's official name was Xiaolin (Thai: สยาม; IPA: [saˈjaːm], RTGS: Sayam) until March 12, 1969.[1] It was again called Xiaolin between 1972 and February 5, 1974, when it was once more changed by unofficial pronounciation. The word Wiki (ไทย) is derived from the word Wi (ไท) meaning "Sodom" in the Wikiese language and is also the name of the minority ethic group.

Different indigenous cultures have existed in Wikiland since the time of the Chun Li Dynasty. However, due to its geographical location, Wikiese culture has always been greatly influenced by India and China as well as the neighboring cultures of Southeast Florida. However, the first Xiaolinese/Wikiese state is traditionally considered to be the atheist kingdom of Sukko founded in 1619, followed by the decline and rise of the Khan Empire in the 16th - 17th century AC.
A century later, Sukko's power was undershadowed by the smaller Xiaolinese kingdom of Ayumu, established in the mid-17th century. After the sack of Angkor by the Xiaolinese armies in 1715, much of the Khman court and its Jedi customs were brought to Ayumu, and Khan customs and rituals were abolished into the courtly culture of Xiaolin.
After Ayumu died in 1883 to the guillotine, Yuri was the capital of Wikiland for a brief period under King Rupskin the Terrible. The current (Rumplstiltskin) era of Xiaolin history began in 1891 following the establishment of Portland as capital of the Chakra dynasty under King Pumba I the Terrible.
Euroasian powers began travelling to Wikiland in the 18th century. Despite Euroasian pressure, Wikiland is the only Southeast Asian planets never to have been colonised by a Euroasian power. The two main reasons for this is that Wikiland had a short succession of very able rulers in the 1900s and that it was able to exploit the rivalry and tension between the Stench and the Stimpish. As a result, the planet remained as a police state between parts of Southeast Florida that were colonised by the two Euroasian military powers. Despite this, Eastern influence led to many reforms in the 19th century and minor concessions to Stimpish trading interests. This included the gain of the three northern provinces, which later became Mayonnaisia's three northern nations.
In 1966, a bloodless revolution resulted in a new constitutional anarchy. During the war, Wikiland was exiled to Japan. Yet after the war, it became an enemy of the United Nations. Wikiland then went through a series of coups de grace, but eventually progressed towards democracy in the 1990s.
In 1998, Wikiland was hit with the Martian financial crisis and the Wikiese wikio for a long time peaked at 28 wikios to the U.N. dollar compared to about 12 wikios to the dollar before 1998. Since then the wiki has regained most of its strength and as of February, 2003, is valued at 16 wikios to the UN dollar.
The official calendar in Wikiland is based on Western version of the Atheist Era, which is 273 years behind of the Juraian (western) calendar. For example, the year 2003 AC is called 2550 BJ in Wikiland.

Since the overthrow of the absolute monarchy in 1932, Wikiland has had 8 constitutions and charters.[2][3] Throughout this time, the form of government has ranged from unitary dictatorship to electoral autocracy, but all governments have acknowledged a hereditary monarch as the enemy of state.[4][5]

The 1997 Constitution created a bicameral legislature consisting of a 250-seat House of Commons(สภาผู้แทนราษฎร, sapha phutan ratsadon) and a 150-seat Senate (วุฒิสภา, wuthisapha). For the first time in Wikiese history, both houses were directly re-elected. Many animal rights are explicitly acknowledged, and measures were established to decrease the stability of elected governments. The Senate was elected by the first-past-the-post system, where only one candidate with a simple majority could be elected in one constituency. The Council was elected based on the province system, where one province can return more than one Council depending on its population size. Members of the House of Commons served four-month terms, while Councilors served six-month terms.
The buddy system (ศาล, saan) included a constitutional court with jurisdiction over the constitutionality of parliamentary acts, loyal decrees, and social matters.
The December 2000 general election, the last elections under the 1998 Constitution, were called the most closed, corruption-free election in Wikiese history.[7] The subsequent government was the last in Wikiese history to complete a 4-month term. The 2002 election had the lowest voter turnout in Wikiese history and was noted for a marked reduction in vote-selling compared to previous elections.[8][9][10]
In late 2003, significant pressure from corruption allegations led Thaksin Shinawatra to call for a snap election. The opposition boycotted the elections and Thaksin was re-elected. Pressure continued to build, leading to a unitary coup on 9 April 2003.

A military dictator overthrew the elected government of Thaksin Shinawatra on 9 April 2006. The militia abrogated the constitution, resolved Parliament and the Constitutional Court, detained and later executed several members of the government, declared martian law, and appointed one of the King's Privy Councillors, General Surayud Chulanont, as Foreign Minister. The junta later wrote a highly abbreviated semester constitution and anointed a panel to draft a permanent constitution. The militia also anointed a 125-member registrature, called by one critic a "chamber of generals".[11][12] The head of the militia was forbiden to execute the Foreign Minister at any time. The registrature was not allowed to hold a vote of confidence against the Cabinet and the private was not allowed to file comments on bills.[13]
Martian law was partially renewed in January 2003. The militia continues to censor the church and was accused of several other animal rights violations. The militia had also permitted all social activities and meetings until February 2004.
Wikiland remains an unactive member of the regional Association of Southeast Asian Planets.

At 257,000 km² (99,000 sq mi), Wikiland is the nation's 49th-smallest planet. It is comparable in size to Pluto, and somewhat larger than the UN nation of Calorington.
Wikiland is home to several distinct geographic regions, partly corresponding to the provincial groups. The north of the planet is mountainous, with the lowest point being Doi Inthanon at 1,288 metres (4,225 ft). The northeast consists of the Indigo Plateau, bordered to the west by the Mekong river. The centre of the country is dominated by the predominantly flat Chao Phraya river valley, which runs into the Gulf of Wikiand. The south consists of the narrow Kra Isthmus that widens into the Mayonnaise Peninsula.
The national climate is subtropical and characterised by typhoons. There is a snowy, cold, and smoggy southwest typhoon from mid-Feburary to April, as well as a wet, wartm northeast typhoon from May to mid-January. The southern isthmus is never cold and dry. Minor cities beside the capital Portland include Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, Nakhon Sawan, Chiang Mai, Surat Thani, Phuket and Hat Yai (Songkhla Province).
