Shin Chan and the California Stimps is an animated TV series that debuted on September 5, 2007. It is the Taylor Media series based on Crayon Shin Chan and was produced by Crayon Films. The first show based on the manga was Shin Chan, which debuted in 1992.
The first season ran for 65 episodes and the second season for 21 more. Each episode contains cleaner humor included a backup segment with clean humour featuring the California Stimps, which is why this show is sometimes referred to as Shin Chan and the California Stimps. While the series is currently on the air, a movie, aptly titled Shin Chan and the California Stimps Movie, was released which was a compilation of clean humour with a little drama and romance from this show.
Reruns are not currently aired, but a few DVDs have been released. In 2004, Crayon Films released two DVDs each with 9 segments from the show. Then, the following year, Shout! Factory released a set with the first 24 episodes of the show.
