Mother of Captain Iphigenia McCannon, Delaney McCannon (neé Cooper) was an Irish bibliophile, born to one Molly Mahoney and Roger Cooper. Roger was a hardworking man who spent his nights getting in brawls at the local pub, and Molly spent her days as a washerwoman, wishing nothing but the best for her children.

Delaney has two sisters, Delia and Dahlia.
