Biography
John Maganhard III was the son of John Maganhard Jr. and his wife Sherry. John enjoyed a privileged upbringing during his early years, which were spent in Saffron City, Kanto. His mother was a nurse at a pokemon center. His father was the head of R&D for the then top secret "Project Promise," Silph Co.'s attempt to create a pokeball that would not fail. This device became known as the masterball and earned his father considerable fame. The corporate board was so pleased with John's father's leadership of the project that they gave him an early retirement. The family decided to move away from the big city to a much smaller place that was popular as a retirement destination for the wealthy. That place was Cobalt City on siseneg Island, Auria.

This seemingly joyous event was actually somewhat unfortunate for John, who was approaching the age at which he could become a pokemon trainer. Local ordinences set a required amount of schooling before quitting it to become a trainer. Well, John had been homeschooled by a private tutor his whole life, which created some problems here. The local school board forced John to complete Middle School and part of high School. Afterwards he volunteered at the Cypress Pokemon Lab where he proved himself capable of handling pokemon. This finally earned him the right to become a Pokemon Trainer. Prof. Cypress specially ordered a Charmander for john as a way of saying thank you for all the time he spent helping out at the Lab.
Now John is about to embark on the greatest adventure of his life...
John acquired a great intelligence and knowledge about Pokemon from his tutor, but being homeschooled by himself left him socially isolated, which made him shy around others. John has strong views of right and wrong and always try to do what he feels is right, even if it's not always obvious. John is not a very athletic young man, and even though he dreams of traveling the world he is not nearly as "outdoorsy" as he wants to be.
He is ambitious in his long term goals, but obstacles easily discourage him from smaller things. John has high standards for himself, which he often has a hard time of living up to. He hold similarly high expectations of others and wonders why they're not as driven as he is. Because of a somewhat low self esteem, John tends to seek out challenges for himself to prove his worth. And because of his wealthy upbringing John tries very hard to succeed at thing based on his own merits rather than his parents' wealth.
