The Purpose of Abnormalia
As stated on the main page, Abnormalia came about when I realised there were thousands of people out there with wonderful, creative ideas that just aren't big enough to merit a whole project. You may have made up a religion, sure, but then what? Create a website? Write a novel? Start a cult?
I felt it was a real shame, all these wonderfull ideas going to waste because there just wasn't much opportunity to share them. You can mention them on forums or write short stories, but there is no way to collect all those little pieces of the puzzle and put them together. What Abnormalia strives to be is a Wiki of the Imagination.
What's in a Name
Abnormalia may seem like a strange name for those of you who aren't familiar with the Ministry of Abnormality (or MoA for short), the forum around the webcomic Commissioned where the idea for a wiki of the imagination was born. The members are a pretty goofy bunch, as the name implies, and I have found that most of them are very creative, smart and funny people. We tend to refer to ourselves as the Abnormals and call any (usually internet) space where we can be as goofy and weird as we want to Abnormalia. As these were the people who inspired this wiki, it seemed only fitting that it's name refer to the forum that gave birth to it.
Using Abnormalia
In the first place, Abnormalia was created to provide a forum, an outlet if you will for those who have little bits of fantasy world stuck in their heads, but there are many other possible uses. Writers can use it as a source of inspiration, those who enjoy fantasy as readers will certainly enjoy the pages as well, and since this is the internet, there are a lot of opportunities to connect with like-minded souls (and clash with jerks). In general, Abnormalia was created for all those who enjoy the many, many worlds imagination has created, whether they be creators or travelers.
