While toasters in the commonly recognised form do occur in the world, this article refers to the creations of Robert Horatio Ferret's unique genius. Using highly dubious mad-science the toasters have been granted semi-sentience, quasi-omnipotence and a terrible sense of humour.
In his many years of trying to get the toasters to do what he wants them to do the toasters have caused many odd things to happen as are detailed at the end of this article.
The Toasters have a range of personalities concealed within their shells, they are capable of communicating over long distances (only with each other) and they can sense their surroundings in order to perform some ironic effect when activated.
The powers of the toasters are in theory a very scary prospect, their very existance is dangerous. This fact is addressed by Bruce when he warns Brylian that it may be best to dispose of FB. However the toaster's personalities are shaped by their creator; they have the same loyalty which is a defining factor of who FB is. They also are very laid-back and silly which is why they rarely do any real damage and they have never killed.
There are 12 known surviving toasters, 2 in Elled, 8 in Felina, 1 in the propulsion device of the Great Floating Platform and 1 in an undisclosed location.
Known effects of using the Toasters

- Sex-changing FB before a date with Sarah (The first sign of sentience, they were jealous of someone else having FB's attention)
- Making silly sound effects at inappropriate times

- Providing a "We're sorry" card for Sarah when she rejoins FB in Felina
- They have sometimes been known to make toast (unconfirmed).
