Thomas Fred Yates was born in Illinois on July 2, 1869 to James Yates (from Illinois) and Barbara Diebert (from Germany). He was married to Lillie Yates. When he died on May 22, 1937 he was residing in Elmira. It was Grant Yates that informed his death and he was placed in Branstetter-Simon Chapel funeral home of Eugene. He was buried in Inman Cemetery.
