Preferences

You can change the appearance of your signature to anything you like within preferences, and even add a handy link to your talk page. I have done this for both of my accounts now, using the following code in the nickname box, and not checking the 'raw sig.' box:

James]]<b>\\</b>[[User talk:Admin|Talk

which changed my signature to:

--James\\Talk 17:39, 14 March 2006 (PST)

Help Files

Mathematical Mark-up

The host has enabled mathematical mark-up, for editing pages, however, they have decided not to use the standard mark-up language. The details can be found here:

http://www.editthis.info/wiki/index.php?title=Help:Math

A simple example is:
<m>a</m> <m>simple</m> <m>example</m>

which creates this:
<m>a</m> <m>simple</m> <m>example</m>

The math mark-up allows you to easily insert greek letters, roman-font letters, and a wide array of symbols, which can be combined in a complicated manner...

<m>delim{|}{{1/N} sum{n=1}{N}{gamma(u_n)} - 2/{2 pi} int{0}{2 pi}{gamma(t) dt}}{|} <= varepsilon/3</m>

Sadly, the math symbols don't appear to work in links, though they can still be used as non-link map markers, title text, etc.

Adding images

We can now host our own images via the 'Upload File' function in the 'toolbox' on the left of the screen. We have five megabytes of storage per external link to our wiki page. Currently, we have one link, via the Yahoo! Discussion group.

You can check our current external link status via the Link Quota Page on the editthis.info wiki

Templates

User Talk page link : Template 'U' will create a link to a user's talk page.

To use it, type {{U|NAME}}.
For 'James', it would look like this: James.

Guidelines

We have our first guideline:

All editors are kindly requested to create a User Login. For your convenience, this can be setup (presumably via a cookie) to auto-login every time you visit the site. However, if you use more than one computer (e.g. Work and Home, as I do), then feel free to have two or more logins, so that you can use the auto-login feature. You cannot use auto-login for a single account with more than one computer.

Currently, it is possible to check who has been making anonymous edits, by examining the contributions page (a page detailing all edits by that user), and looking for tell-tale edits. However, as a couple of you are using dynamic IP addresses, this inconvenient method is far from reliable.

To-do List

  • Make the wiki pages attractive:
  1. The image on the main page is only a place-holder, to be replaced with a pic of the in-character covenant, in it's present condition.
  2. Add covenant name and location to the main page (once decided IC).
  3. Change the name of the Discussion Group to match Covenant name (Perhaps).
  • The Covenant:
  1. Produce a map of the immediate area of the construction site, once the players have spent build points, hooks and boons, and chosen from the locations which fit their criteria. :: Started, but not easy due to lack of a period map.
  • The Library:
  1. Add sections to the book tables in the library, so that the books can be categorised by art.
  2. Organise the books into some sort of spell level and alphabetical order.
  3. Consider moving the book tables in the library to smaller sub pages, as the page is becoming quite long.
  4. Properly type up the guidelines regarding document usage from the discussion group posts.
  5. Add references (book and page numbers) for all standard spells. For non-standard spells, create a page for non-canon spells, and link to it.
  • The Setting
  1. Add image code to the maps on the Setting page, so that they are reduced, act as links to their own image pages, have superimposed markers, and any other fancy bits from the meta wiki help.
  2. I've taken on a task, as much for my own interest as anything, of providing a bit of a gazeteer of the area, highlighting features that would have been around in-period for the game in the real-world area on which our little bit of mythic Europe is perched. --OldNick 04:51, 16 February 2006 (PST)

This list is constantly being amended. I add things as I think of them. Please help me by adding tasks you think need to be done.

Things-I-can't-do List

  • I have no access to the database, so anything involving .php files is beyond my ability to do. This includes adding wiki-extensions, wiki-interlinks, and a raft of other things that aren't terribly important. However, if there is a particular thing that would really benefit this wiki, then I can mail the host about it, and there's a not unreasonable chance that they may make a change to the .php code if it's something they like the sound of.
  • I cannot edit the bar at the bottom of the page as it is generated by .php code.
